Amazing Waterfalls for Kimberley Cruises 2018

Posted: Jun 05, 2018
With some amazing Kimberley Cruises, 2018 could be the year to see some fantastic sights. The Kimberley region is home to some fantastic waterfalls that should be a must see for any cruises.
King Cascade
When you picture a waterfall, you’re likely to think about a water wall falling down rocks, and King Cascade is the epitome of this. This impressive waterfall has water cascading over massive red and black rock graduations. The fall stands at 27 metres high, but it does have a marred history. In 1987 American tourist Ginger Meadows was killed in a crocodile attack. For this reason, it is advisable to climb the cascade in order to swim in crystal rock pools.
Mitchell Falls
This multi tiered waterfall stands at 80 metres tall and is thought to be the second largest in the Kimberley. Mitchell Falls cascades through sandstone to create layers of green, freshwater holes filling one pool and the next. The area is considered one of the most sensational of all the natural attractions in the area.
Horizontal Falls
Horizontal Falls is considered a true icon of the area and was described as "Australia’s most unusual natural wonder" by Sir David Attenborough. This natural phenomenon has a rapid tidal current forcing water through narrow gorges to form rapids. The result is a pair of waterfalls that are turned on their side. Horizontal Falls are in Talbot Bay and can only be accessed by sea or air.
King George Falls
King George Falls featured in the Baz Luhrmann movie "Australia" and is just as stunning in real life. It is the highest waterfall in the Kimberley region with 180 feet of water plunging beneath the ancient sandstone cliff. The breathtaking red gorges and heaving water creates tidal waters and secluded spots that are only accessible by cruise.
Kununurra Waterfalls
Kununurra translates into "meeting of big waters" painting a picture of what the falls offer visitors. The waterfalls are best seen in the wet season, with the vast area creating falls and waterholes that are even rumoured to have fertility powers. Lake Kununurra is also a neighbour of Lake Argyle, the largest manmade lake within the southern hemisphere. This makes it an ideal spot to enjoy wildlife spotting and water sports.
The Kimberley waterfalls should be high on any bucket list. These waterfalls are one of nature’s most stunning creations, offering visitors frothy white rapids, crystal clear waters, and blue waterholes.
