After months of attending coaching, pulling numerous all-nighters, and multiple revisions, you have finally cracked your MBA entrance exam. As ecstatic as you may be right now that was just the first step to getting into your preferred institute. The next thing you need to focus on is acing the personal interview. Here is a list of important questions you should prepare for before you walk into that interview.

Tell me about yourself

A universal and open-ended question, it is asked to see if you are well versed and can articulate your thoughts clearly. Keep your answers 2-3 mins long and focus on your work experience, undergraduate degree, career goals, and accomplishments. Remember to frame the answer in a way that showcases why the school would benefit from you being enrolled there.

Why are you interested in this school/program?

Make sure you show that you’ve done your research. Mention a list of reasons why the institute is a good fit for you. It could be the faculty, facilities, course structure or placement records. You need to clearly convey why this is the best school for you, even if it's not your top choice.

What do you like best about your current job?

If you have a few years of work experience, the interviewers will most likely ask this particular question. Take this opportunity to steer the conversation towards a topic you are truly passionate about. Explain why you chose that career path, what you find rewarding about your job, and how it will help you reach your career goals.

Do you have any question for me?

This is the time to show that you are serious, you’ve done your homework, and have put a great amount of thought into the school. Some questions you could ask are:

A. What are major changes on the horizon for this program?

B. How does your school provide networking opportunities?

C. With my goals, how will this program benefit me?

However, avoid questions that can be easily answered by the institute's website or print collaterals.

You’ve put months of preparation into your aptitude test for MBA. Make sure to prepare well for the interview as well. Frame answers that convey your skill and passion for the business world. Going in prepared will help you ace the interview, even if it doesn’t calm your nerves.
