Improve the Work Efficiency of Your Domestic and Commercial Properties through Electrical Installati
Posted: Jun 30, 2018
Buildings and structures require ample maintenance in order to ensure safety and efficiency. This means the periodic inspection of crucial components, so as not to put the safety and wellbeing of its occupants in jeopardy at any point in any building’s for lifetime. An EICR or Electrical Installation Condition Report is a basic but critical survey and report about the safety and general condition of a property’s electrical supply needs—be it domestic or commercial. This inspection, which is also commonly referred to as PIR or Periodic Inspection Report should be done so often to ensure the electrical soundness of a building.
In an electrical installation condition report, a qualified electrician is tasked to inspect different components of your electrical system. This includes the property’s fuse box as well as other connections and fittings, along with each socket and switch. The process typically involves switching your electrical systems off and back on, at least several times to make sure that each individual system is working and that there is no need for repair or maintenance. It also includes a thorough testing of/for insulation and connections, polarity and earthing, as well as faults and circuit breaks. This inspection is done to make sure that you have an up-to-date, working, and completely safe system. By the end of the survey, your inspector should be able to give an advice or direction pertaining to repairs and remedial work that must be done to restore a faulty system back to good working condition. This could mean some repair work and rewiring or sometimes, simply replacing an old fuse box with a new unit.
In addition to ensuring the safety of a property, an EICR is also recommended to keep homes and commercial properties energy-efficient. With changing industry and building standards, regular testing of your building’s components is critical to ensure compliance. Newer electrical systems also tend to be safer, more resistant to wear, and more energy efficient, which is why letting in an inspector to check on your electrical installations is also a step toward a more cost and energy efficient property.
When requesting an EICR, it is important to have an inspection carried out only by qualified and experienced professionals so as to make sure that their advice is legitimate. With the safety of your property on the line, you don’t want just any inspector to do this critical job—choose a company that is certified and up-to-date with the latest industry standards.
