  2. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy- In this surgery, nearly 85 percent of the stomach is surgically removed. The stomach is then shaped into a sleeve-like structure. The operation reduces hunger pangs by lowering down the hunger-related hormones.
  3. Gastric bypass surgery- Another favourite technique for bringing down excess weight is the gastric bypass surgery. This involves the creation of thumb-sized pouch from the upper stomach, accompanied by bypass of the remaining stomach.
  4. Biliopancreatic diversion- Also known as Scopinaro surgery brings down weight by altering the digestive system. Part of the stomach is resected creating a smaller pouch. This gives the body lesser time to absorb fats and calories resulting in weight loss.
  5. Duodenal switch surgery- This procedure is a modification of biliopancreatic diversion comprising of a malabsorptive and restrictive component.

How to lose weight?

In simpler words, the best way to lose weight is to spend more calories. For example, if you want to lose 1 pound, you need to pay 3500 calories approximately. This can be achieved by cutting down on food consumption or extensively increasing physical activity or by doing both.

Here are few tips for an obese person to lose weight-

1. Add protein intake to your diet- When it comes to weight loss treatment in India, protein is the king of nutrients. Your body burns calories when digesting the food and metabolizing the proteins that you consume daily. A protein heavy diet can boost metabolism by up to 80-100 calories a day.

  1. Avoid processed foods- Processed foods are high in added sugars, fats and may increase your calories. So avoiding processed foods is a good option for losing weight.
  2. Limit your intake of added sugar- Eating a lot of added sugar can result in some of the dangerous diseases including heart diseases, type 2 diabetes and cancer.
  3. Drink coffee without sugar- Black coffee sans sugar is very good for losing weight, since it can make you feel full but contains almost no calories. Coffee drinking may support reducing weight by increasing energy levels and amount of calories you burn daily.
  4. Eat more fruits and vegetables- Fruits and vegetables are extremely healthy, weight-loss-friendly foods. In addition to being rich in water, nutrients and fibre, fruits and vegetables usually have very low energy density. Eating lots of veggies makes it possible to eat large servings without consuming too many calories.
