Are you planning to attend your next continuing medical education (CME) conference in Seoul this year? Then we recommend you check out this blog post for some suggestions to help you plan a memorable trip. Seoul is a unique, world-class city, so be sure to schedule some time away from the medical conference to explore all it has to offer.

According to our database, a total of 17 CME conferences are slated to be held in Seoul this year. Seoul is the capital of South Korea and is one of the most dynamic cities in Asia. It is renowned for its fashion, temples, skyscrapers, palaces, mountain trails, and K-pop.

Seoul has five UNESCO world heritage sites: Hwaseong Fortress, Changdeok Palace, Jongmyo Shrine, Namhansanseong and the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty.

Seoul is also renowned for its advanced architectural constructions such as N Seoul Tower, Lotto World Tower, the 63 Building, and many others. It was awarded World Design Capital in 2010.

Seoul is the 9th most visited city in the world and the 4th largest tourism earner.

Weather

Seoul weather can be described as a humid subtropical climate and has four distinct seasons- spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Spring and summer are considered the best time to visit so you might want to book your hotel and flight tickets in advance. Autumn and winter are mostly off-season due to the cold, however, you might want to avoid Chuseok (public holiday in South Korea) and Lunar New Year, as the prices tend to hike up during this period.

Air pollution is a major problem in Seoul so you might want to carry masks.

Traveling

Seoul transportation system is well-designed. Seoul is connected by two international airports, Incheon International and Gimpo International. You can take buses, trains, subways, or taxis to travel around the city. Cycling has become a huge hit among tourists, it is called Ddareungi- bicycle sharing system. You can buy a Korean T-money card to travel on trains and can always opt for cabs if you like, as they are also cheaper. Traffic jams are a common occurrence here in Seoul and very limited parking space is available, so we do not recommend renting a car.
