If you are a weekend warrior who loves to take off every other weekend or once per month to weekend getaway destinations that are exciting for the family, New York has some fabulous places to hit. Whether you love the city, small villages or somewhere in between, there is something for everyone in New York. Here are three top picks for weekend getaways in New York.

NYC – New York City

Whether you are taking the kids or leaving them at home, New York City is a definite must-do for one of your weekend getaways. The Statue of Liberty and viewing the new site where the Twin Towers fell are must-sees in New York City, especially if you have never been there. Take a stroll through Times Square, where the unbelievably huge Toys R Us location exists, or visit FAO Schwartz with the kids, and everything is lights and billboards. Head to Brooklyn where the Transit Museum or you can ride the carousel or sit in antique train cars. Visit the Sony Tech Museum or hop on the USS trepid, where you can see the space station. Daytime and night life is always alive in NYC, which is dubbed "the city that never sleeps".

North Creek, NY

If you prefer to tone down you weekend getaways down to more of a nature-esque trip, head to North Creek, New York, which is about two hours outside of New York City, to enjoy an Adirondack mini-trip. The stunning Adirondack Mountains offer so much to the nature lover, it is impossible to enjoy everything that they have to offer. Purchase a whitewater rafting package and brave the white waters of the Hudson River which is surrounded by granite cliffs as high as 500 feet. If you want a rough ride that provides a challenge for the seasoned rafter, purchase a spring or fall water rafting experience.

Cold Spring, NY

This is touted as one of the most visitor-friendly towns that surround the Hudson. The town of Cold Spring is a warm and inviting town that has a little bit of everything. From the historic waterfront, which is laden with bark benches where you can sit and enjoy beautiful weather and the spectacular, incomparable views of the Hudson River, to Main Street, which is lined with cafes, restaurants and antique shops. Then, you can view the nearby mountains or head to them to enjoy a nature-filled stroll. Cold Spring also contains its fair share of historic houses lining the river, and once you have tried a taste at one of the local restaurants or slept in an inn, you will realize why this small, quaint town of New York called Cold Spring is such a popular place for weekend vacations.

From the city landscape, busy day life and night life, to the thrills of white water rafting to the small town quaintness that takes you away from the real world for a moment, New York weekend getaways have something for everyone to enjoy. So, bring the kids or take off for a couple’s weekend getaway to take a breather from the stresses of everyday life and revive.
