Keeping children entertained on airport transfers

Posted: Apr 24, 2014
While a family holiday is one of the best things in the world to enjoy, travelling with children can sometimes be a harrowing experience for the parent. The small attention spans and even smaller amounts of patience exhibited by the average young child – especially one who has been subjected to all the long and tiring preparations surrounding the trip, not to mention the flight itself – can often bring about the need to keep the young ones entertained, so as to keep their mind off things.
This is especially true during the transfer period from the airport to the centre of the town or the accommodation the family have booked. These types of rides are often dull, with very little to see other than highway on all sides; and there is even less to do, give or take the presence of a book or gaming console close at hand.
In the case of Dalaman airport transfers, however, parents need not worry about their children suffering from boredom. Shuttle services from this airport tend to cross somewhat more scenic and interesting routes than those of other airports, enabling all sorts of games and activities to be organised around them. Below are only a few of the things parents can do with their children during Dalaman airport transfers, which are sure to keep the little ones entertained.
Spotting Games
Spotting games are a perennial favourite on long car journeys, and Dalaman airport transfers to pretty much any location in Turkey will provide both parents and children with plenty of fodder for them. Points can be attributed for anything from a herd of cows to a monument or even a particular natural feature, such as a type of tree. Furthermore, this type of exercise can serve as an excellent educational tool, subtly familiarizing children with the natural elements or the type of architecture prevalent in Turkey. Parents should only make sure not to choose cars or buses as a source of points, lest an otherwise peaceful game turn into a war of attrition, with plenty of lost scores and fights about who saw a particular vehicle first!
Head Start
Games are not, however, the only activity families can engage in on the course of Dalaman airport transfers. While the back of a shuttle may seem like an odd place for a language lesson, why not take this time to make your small ones familiar with a few basic words of Turkish? Teaching your children a few basic sentences in this language will not only help them get around during their holiday, should the need arise, but also give them a sense of pride, should they be able to master such an exotic and unusual tongue.
It is clear, then, that unlike in other places around the world, children have precious little reason to be bored on the course of Dalaman airport transfers. Inventive parents will surely know how to make this usually dull portion of the trip enjoyable – and the surroundings themselves will help.
