Try Out Tasty And Relishing Carrot Halwa For Guests And Family

Out of the many dessert recipes available, carrot halwa is quite popular. The recipe is simple but can take about two hours to make as it requires constant stirring and milk evaporation to get the right consistency and taste. Ingredients include two liters of milk, one kilo of carrots, cinnamon, cardamom and cashews as required, pinch of saffron threads, 60 grams of ghee, two tablespoons of honey, some 150 grams of castor sugar and half teaspoon of rosewater and half cup silvered almonds.
How to make it?
Saffron must be soaked in a tablespoon of hot water, which must be then set aside. Heat milk to boiling point and then add the grated carrots, cinnamon and cardamom. Stir these ingredients constantly and wait till the mix comes to a boil, after which the flame must be reduced to a simmer. Now you should constantly stir the mix, till milk evaporates to less than a quarter. At this point, you can put in the saffron, saffron liquid, after which you must stir for thirty minutes until all water is gone. Now add ghee, fried cashews, honey, sugar and rosewater. Stir again till these ingredients mix well into the Halwa to enhance taste and flavors. Once the Halwa is little cooled down, you can spoon it into a bowl and then top with slivered almonds and silver leaf.

- This dessert item tastes better when you make use of Delhi carrots which are tastier and very juicy. - It is relishing with full fat milk and a variation of it can be made through evaporated milk. - It can also be tried out with almond milk and even soy milk which however will give it a soy taste. - Carrots grating can be done faster using a food processor than manually. - It comes out with the best flavors when done through the traditional slow cooking process which ensures that there is proper thickness and all flavors and properly blended into the Halwa to give it a rich taste. - Using a heavy iron bottomed pan is best for this recipe although you can also opt for non- stick one or a thick bottomed pan. - It is a dessert that is very popular in North India, as well as India and Pakistan and is usually made often during the winter season.
Those who want to make this dessert quickly can try it out in the pressure cooker through a medium to low flame, which will give out the first whistle after twenty five to thirty minutes, after which you need to switch it off.
