It is said that one hunts lion from the heart and of course hunting down a lion is an amazing experience. Those who have previously hunted a lion know that these beasts are a prized trophy and are pure excitement to hunt. When you begin your journey on hunting the lion, there are three times when you will be scared to death. First, when you see the huge paw tracks on the ground, second, when you hear the intimidating roar and finally, when actually witnesses it.

Lions are known to protect a territory and frequent between hunting areas. Larger baits are set closer to the ground so that the lion could use some effort to grab it and higher than hyenas could reach it. Contents of the guts and stomach are scattered on the ground to draw the animal to the bait. There are two ways of hunting down a lion – one, by waiting for the lion to reach the bait and get busy with it and second, by waiting for the lion to feed. When lions are busy with the bait, it becomes easier to shoot them than that of leopards.

Since lions are confident animals, they do not have to fear about other animals around it while feeding on its feast. When it comes to hunting down dangerous animals, accuracy is the number one thing that plays a huge role when hunting a lion. You will need a bullet that is.30 calibers which will readily kill both a lion and a leopard. Since lions are not thick skinned, they are susceptible to hydrostatic shock and sometimes die immediately with a well-placed bullet. Lions are very dangerous when wounded and a trophy lion is not measured with the hair around its neck.

Trophy lions are measured by the size of their skull. However, a nice mane is great addition to your lion trophy.
