At many times while traveling, it is best for women to use their wit and intuition rather than depending on external factors to save them. You can always call the cops or run for your life, but things take time when you are under critical situations. That is why; it is better to be aware and keep a few things in mind so that you can take quick actions rather than regretting that you should have thought things quickly.

Research about the places to visit

If you are traveling to a potentially dangerous country or the one that has safety hazards, make sure that you research well about the safe zones. There are always safe cities and hamlets to visit in a country, even if there are potentially unsafe places. It is better to find out those places and travel accordingly.

Learn self defense

No matter how quick the cops are to reach the place of crime, a few techniques of self defense do the best trick. Learn the basics of Taekwondo, karate, or MMA. Even if you do not know such defensive art forms, just kick your attacker in his groin, dig your nails hard into his eyes, and use your bag/scarf/belt to choke his neck. You can also punch a goon in his throat or nose to hurt him before he hurts you. A hard bite on the body can make any person numb for some seconds, which will give you time to run from that place.

Avoid going to dark places

You must know the best time to stay outdoors in any city, and the best streets to take whenever you have to go to a new place. After it gets dark in the evening, never take lightless alleys even if they are shortcuts to your hotel. Take a longer but safer route to reach anywhere you want. It is no use putting yourself in danger just to save some money or time. Moreover, you can always get help quickly in safe places.

Using public transport

Whenever you have to use a shared public transport, do not hop on an auto-rickshaw or bus that has only male drivers because you don’t know any one of them, especially at night. If you board a shared vehicle alone, but many potentially hazardous men climb on it later, just get down at a public place. Trust your gut feeling and make an excuse to the driver that you need to withdraw cash from an ATM, buy medicines, etc. and just de-board. If the driver does not listen to you, raise an alarm.

You can also call someone and without hinting anyone, give details of your whereabouts on the call. If no one picks your call, fake talking to someone on the other end. Whenever you take an auto-rickshaw or cab, click the picture of its number plate, let the driver notice what you just did, send it to your travel buddy, and then begin your journey. This is to let the driver know that you are an aware person so that he does not dare to harm you. However, you can have faith in hiring shared cabs where you, the driver, and the company have the details of co-passengers. In case of a cab as well, send the details of the car and driver to someone and fake a call if you are not really calling anyone. You can also rent a car in Navi Mumbai without driver or take a Car Rental in any other city in India to be in charge of your journey, which is the best way to be safe while traveling.
