If your printer has stopped responding, you need to give these five checks a shot before you replace it. Minor issues can be fixed by user themselves so if your printer is somehow unable to print documents so before you look for other options just go through these checks.

Check 1: Check whether the printer is turned on, the power button is pressed, the cables are intact and connected, the paper tray has ample sheets and there is no sign of any error or complication.

Check 2: Please make sure you have selected the printer that you expect. There are similar selections another computer programs that permit you to verify and to select the printer you wish to use. Check 4: Many printing problems are caused by the loss of connection between the computer and the printer. Check whether the printer is working by clicking a test page’ if it doesn’t work, go to the 'Ports' and identify which port connects the printer to the computer and fix it.

Check 5: Wireless printers often lose their connections to the network. This can be verified by going to the printer and selecting from the printer menus a print out of the network configuration. An alternate test is to use a different computer to print a test page to the wireless printer. Wireless printers, many a time, faces this issue of poor network connectivity. In such a case, the best way is to reinstall the wireless printer and connect it to the specified network. Wireless installation needs a network key or a password. At times, the printer is connected to the network through a Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA).

These above-mentioned five checks are to root down problem correctly. Besides this, if any physical damage is causing the printer to stop responding, replacement is the only option you are left with.
