When looking to buy an engagement ring, you will probably find that you are inundated with choice. Many commercial and independent jewellers have a vast range of rings to choose from, and the task of choosing may appear seemingly impossible. Try not to get overwhelmed; think about what appeals to you, and then choose one or two designers whose style you like and focus on them.

While most designers have a great portfolio of rings to choose from, independent designers also offer a bespoke design service that is perfect for those couples who do not really know exactly what they want in a ring. Amanda Mansell and other designers like her take great pride in creating unique rings that are designed especially for a couple on their engagement. These designers are skilled at guiding couples to choose the designs they want and the effect they are aspiring to. Designers are also receptive to couples’ personalities and how they interact with each other and can pick up on different elements of style that can be incorporated into the ring. Amanda Mansell and her fellow bespoke designers have an excellent reputation for creating unique pieces that couples will treasure always.

Why Go Bespoke?

If you are more of a discerning jewellery buyer, going bespoke is definitely for you. Engagement rings are perhaps one of the most personal pieces of jewellery a couple will share and it is important to get it right. Today, more and more couples want to take control of the design of their ring and have an input into its creation. Amanda Mansell and other designers want to encourage this and offer a full personal service from start to finish of the ring design. An initial consultation will involve a discussion about your requirements and also perusal of existing designs that might spark inspiration. Following this, the designer will put the ideas into a Computer Aided Design (CAD) design programme, and you will be invited to comment and approve or tweak as you see fit.

Once the design has been approved, the designer will set about making the final piece. The time that this takes depends on the complexity of the design, the metal used, and the availability of the stones chosen. Although this can take a little while, the results are definitely worth it, and the perfect piece of jewellery presented to you at the end will definitely make up for the wait.

While it is true that designers such as Amanda Mansell are seeing more and more bespoke commissions, remember, too, that if you haven’t got the imagination or inclination to go down that line, there are plenty of off-the-shelf rings that are equally unique to choose from.
