Originally, Happy Wheels contained only one character, Wheelchair Guy who is the eldest characters and also one of the two mascots of the game; the other mascot is Effective Shopper. Happy Wheels had one level, Happy Green Hills which has over 17 millions plays. Is the only level which was hand-draw by Jim Bonnaci.

Currently, Happy Wheels has more characters, each one having his own vehicles as it follows:

The game player is able to control these characters which follow their goal of getting to the finish line (basically, you have to get from point A to point B) by activating a trigger that triggers victory or collecting a required amount of tokens whilst avoiding being damaged across the level by many hazards and obstacles.

Happy Wheels contains also a demo, Happy Wheels Demo. Happy Wheels Demo stays on v1.52, with limited features. Happy Wheels Full Version which can be found on Total Jerk Face Happy Wheels, a site created by Jim Bonnaci, allows the gamer to go to the up-to-date version which of course is catchier for the gamers.

Happy Wheels Full Version gives the chance to the game player to create and share his own custom scenarios. This can be done by using the expansive level editor which represents the "workshop" used to create levels by placing obstacles, hazards, triggering events.

Many people have their first interaction with the game by playing the Happy Wheels Demo and afterwards they look for the Happy Wheels Full Versions which permits them to go further with the game.

Happy Wheels appeared from Jim Bonnacio’s disappointment of other ragdoll-games as the ragdolls did not die properly and they’d just flop around harmlessly.
