The most important thing after opening a business is to get orders from the clients. But, according to the experts only 10% of the work is done if some client hires you to serve them. The actual game begins when you start to serve them. Things become more and more complicated when you start to get more and more orders from different clients. Actually, managing the orders from the clients is an art to excel in any kind of business. Here are some tips regarding that –

  • If you are working as a principal investigator of some scientific project, you need to see two ways. Whereas you need to interact with the clients and the seniors of your
project management directly, you need to guide your team members efficiently. Remember that you need to complete the project in a group. So it is very important to keep the group united for every issue. Divide the responsibility to each and every member of the group. Assign them some works and ask them to submit those works and report it within a particular deadline. The deadlines given to the members should be quite earlier compared to the deadline given by the client. You can reward your group members for successful completion of the project. Never make the work burden for them. Keeping a happy environment is a key to make them work efficiently. On other hand, you must report about the progress of the project from time to time to the client. Always be nice to him/her. If he/she needs any change deliver him/her well within the deadline.

  • If you are owner of a business, your job will be somewhat similar the earlier points. But as you are the owner here, your responsibilities are much more as you won’t have any fixed salary like the PI. Only successful completion of a project of a client will provide you the profit. Moreover, you are handling one or more clients unlike PI, as he uses to handle only one client at a time. So your primary job will be to determine your potential first. Never over-burden yourself. Don’t commit to a client to complete the work within the mentioned deadline if you are not capable of doing that just for the sake of good relation only. Remember that the failure in meeting deadline will not only make you lose the client, you will lose your reputation too.
