Eek! Put Some Spooky in Your Halloween Miniature Garden
Posted: Oct 28, 2018
The fall season is a special time for miniature gardening. The weather gets a little cooler, the leaves change color, and visions of candy, ghosts, and goblins start dancing in our heads. What better way to celebrate Halloween than with some quick and simple updates to your outdoor miniature garden or container garden. It does not take much to turn a fairy garden from sweet and summery to dark and spooky. We have ideas for gardeners who like to keep the emphasis on "treats," as well as those whose themed gardens are full of scary tricks!
Cute and CalmIf you are hoping to make your Halloween miniature gardens comfortable places for very young children or planning to bring delight to those who are not interested in scary elements, you can still spice up the fall garden in a variety of ways. Try getting your fairies fit for the season with Halloween costumes and outfits. You can make your accessories to dress up fairies you already have, or invest in a couple of new friends, such as Fairy Claire, who has decorated her fairy wings to look like a butterfly, or Fairy Ann, who is set to go trick-or-treating with her pumpkin bucket.
Other elements add Halloween flair throughout the garden, such as a Fall Door with pumpkin accents and warm, rich colors. Consider constructing some Halloween fun for your miniature garden residents, such as lining up Natural Straw Bales to create a maze. Autumn Gourds at the base of miniature plants and LED Light Strings swaged in miniature trees can instantly turn your space into a happening seasonal haven.
Creepy CrawlyAre you looking to introduce some spooky elements? We have fairy garden accessories for you! Creepy creatures like a Crow or Halloween Squirrel with Bat Wings will give garden visitors the goosebumps. They can be switched out from your summer garden animals or used merely as additions to the scene during October and November. You can even suggest the presence of spooky friends by leaning a Twig Broom against a tree or pushing some Witch Leg Picks into the Earth. Eek!
As you decorate your miniature garden, you can also consider swapping out decorative elements in favor of spooky versions. Perhaps your regular fairy bridge is removed, and a Halloween Bone Bridge takes its place to welcome all sorts of skeletons and witches who might appear in the night. Your usual fairy houses could even be switched for a whole pumpkin patch of miniature houses, such as a Moonlit Pumpkin House with LED Lights (for twinkly nighttime fun!), Micro Witch Hat House, or other themed miniature houses of your choosing.
When it comes to landscaping the miniature garden, you can consider upgrading your usual soil or pebbles for something a little shiny or sparkly that will add a magical element to the garden. If you are planning a small pumpkin patch, complete with wheelbarrows, price signs, and even roaming ghosts, include miniature plants and miniature trees to help you create the spot of your dreams, however spooky or cutesy you would like your fairy garden to be.
