Top 10 Zero Annual Fee Credit Cards in India

When you are looking for a credit card with zero annual fees, you must understand that the way banks are able to offer the so-called ‘zero annual fee’ cards is by getting you to spend a certain amount using their card. Looking for zero annual fees is therefore pointless if you are not willing to use that card frequently. With this understanding, we looked at the ten credit cards which had the best zero annual fee structure.

  1. SBI Simply Save – Previous year’s spend needs to be Rs. 75000 for current year’s annual fee to be waived. All the spends also provide reward points which can be redeemed later.
  2. ICICI Bank HPCL Coral – This credit is co-branded with HPCL, and offers 2.5% cashback on fuel purchases. A spend of Rs. 50000 during current year can waive the annual fee of Rs. 199 plus taxes.
  3. ICICI Bank Platinum Chip – The minimum annual spend for annual fee waiver the next year is the same as the Coral – Rs. 50000. But the annual fee in this card is only Rs. 99 per year.
  4. Standard Chartered Platinum – This was one card in the list which didn’t lay down any spending requirements for annual fee waiver. The annual fee of Rs. 750 per annum from the second year onwards is waived only if the card application is made online.
  5. Kotak Royale Signature – this card has two variants, only one of which charges a joining fee. Both the variants have an annual fee of Rs. 999, which can be waived off if the annual spend on the previous year was Rs. 100000.
  6. Kotak League Platinum – This is a popular credit card from Kotak which allows full waiver of annual fee of Rs. 499 if there has been a spend of Rs. 50000 in the previous year.
  7. HDFC Bank Moneyback – The waiver of annual fees on this card is based on future spends rather than previous year’s spends. The annual fee is first levied. If the card holder then spends Rs. 10000 within 90 days of the issue of the card, then this fee is waived.
  8. HSBC Visa Platinum – This bank has stringent guidelines for issuance of card, but if you are eligible, then you get the benefit of zero joining and annual fees with no spend guidelines.
  9. Citibank Rewards – The annual fees at Rs. 1000 is quire steep, but the condition to have it waived is much simpler than other cards. You need to spend only Rs. 30000 in the year.
  10. Central Bank of India Titanium – There is neither any enrolment fee nor any annual fee on this credit card.
