According to research created by Google, people really care about the speed of the internet pages and want to have the ability to find their answers as quickly as possible. Google was using the webpage rate as a factor for ranking sites for a while, but the attention was on desktop searches only.

Some time ago Google announced a substantial change in the way that it ranks sites for mobile searches. This was expected considering the fact that 60 percent from Google searches are done via a mobile device. The problem now is that number is increasing day by day and is a time when mobiles and tablets following that they include hardware from the latest generation of technology as Octa cores which even own laptops home don't have such spec.

Google announced this change to occur from July 2018 and will affect pages which provide the slowest experience to the consumers. This can affect on many way and directions.

The"Speed Update" will influence any webpage with a slow pace, regardless the technologies used behind it.Google has been prioritizing page rate for quite a while now.

In February 2016, Google started to push to the top pages using Accelerated Mobile Page (AMP) so as to accelerate cellular rendering from the search results.

More recently, the search giant started rolling out its own mobile-first index into a number of the websites to shift its general search index to prefer the mobile versions. This shift is focusing on forcing the site owners to put the identical info on the mobile site, same as the desktop versions - which isn't a case today.

This"Speed Update" is related to the content on the site, nor it's associated with any requirements around AMP usage.

Instead, it's about the overall page functionality, using a single goal to supply an overall better experience to mobile users, using Google over the cell phone.

Google did not announce a tool which will directly tell whether the page is influenced by this new variable, here are a few tools which may be used to assess a cell page's performance.

Chrome User Experience Report - is a public dataset of user experience metrics for popular destinations online, under real-world states; Lighthouse - an automatic tool for auditing the quality of the internet pages; Page Speed Insights - is a tool that shows how well a page performs on the Chrome UX Report and makes suggestions what can be improved.

This update isn't the first time the page speed was used as a sign on Google. This has been the case with background searches as well for quite a long time. These mobile-focused changes by Google are crucial for the company, considering that most of the searches are done via mobile devices, like smartphones.
