In the case of how to build a trailer, the first step is to prepare the necessary materials and tools. They include sheet metal, main frame of a trailer, angle iron, a grip machine, cut saw, wheel and axle assembly, tongue and wheels.

To begin the construction of the trailer, you must decide on a design for your trailer. You can choose one without a roof, while a covered trailer can be rectangular, circular or your own custom shape. Include measurements in your draft to help you choose the materials. Remember that it includes a hitch, the instrument that links the trailer with your vehicle, in the trailer design.

Decide the materials and measurements before buying them. Always buy additional materials in case you need more for errors. While many have no idea of??deciding the measures, since they may not have experience in how to build a trailer, they can measure an existing trailer before modifying their preferences.

The most significant element of a trailer is the set of wheels and axles. You must ensure that the selected wheel and axle are resistant and capable of coping with the size of the trailer you intend to build. Then trace the body of the trailer on the metal sheets and cut the outline. Solder the pieces and make sure they are welded correctly to avoid spaces between the parts. Next, decide the position of your axis, the bar placed in the center of the wheels. If you prefer a trailer that tilts back when it is not connected to a vehicle, its axle should be placed near the center of gravity of the body.

To continue with the construction process of the trailer, you must calculate the weight of the tongue. It is the amount of force exerted on the coupling by the trailer. To obtain the exact weight, find out the weight of the complete frame and the tongue is five percent of the total weight. Then turn the frame to fix the tongue. It must extend from the frame to allow connection to a vehicle. The tongue includes the latch, a hand wheel and a coupler. The tongue must be above the axis. A usual tongue is made of two pieces of steel with holes and a round bar is placed in the hole to join the pieces. This allows the tongue to be bent so that the trailer turns correctly.

Next, a latch should be placed on the frame to balance the trailer. It also helps to hook the trailer to the vehicle. Then place the fenders to frame and weld them over low heat. This is to protect the wheel. To support the fenders you can place the angle of iron. Weld the iron angle together to strengthen the back of the frame. An open trailer will use this to support the door. The painting can begin after assembling all the parts. If there is rust, remember to remove them to ensure that the paint can last longer.
