If you wish t know what asset allocation is all about and how to go about it then read this article.

Wealth management is a skill. If you don’t know how to manage what you have you will end up losing all. Saving will become difficult and in the long run it will be all about meeting the both ends meet. You will never enjoy a life of luxury and even if you do, because of your poor wealth management skills, you will end up being poor in the last days of your lives. No one wants to live a like this. Then what can one do? Should they stop spending completely unless it is the basic things required to survive? Or what should they do? Well, there should be a balance between earning, spending and saving if you want to live a well-balanced life. The trick lies in asset allocation.

Knowing where to invest, when to invest, how much to invest – will have answers to all your queries. When you have disposable cash with you, always check out the investment market and the prevailing scenario. Find out the areas that are yielding higher returns. Know which is a safer area to invest – fixed deposit, stocks, mutual funds or the common savings account – what will it be? Ideally, one should invest in all these areas because each investment comes with its own pros and cons. This is the area where asset allocation makes all the difference.

When you are investing the major fear that you have that all the money will be lost. This is especially in case of mutual funds because they have always been subject to market risk. You either make a lot of money out of mutual funds or you completely lose them. However, it is not always same. Hence, when you are opting for mutual funds go for the bare minimum investment so that in case you lose the money, the amount will not be huge.

Stocks are a great investment if you buy bank stocks, insurance stocks. They hardly suffer any loss and you will always get a good return out of these stocks. There are stocks of big corporate houses as well. However, before purchasing them ask your stock agent which one is the safer bet amongst the many and invest accordingly. Everyone does not have the knack to crack the stock exchange pulse. There are many who do not understand how the bears and bulls market function.

If you opt for fix deposits, the amount invested will increase by a certain percentage after a certain number of years. Generally one opts for 5years in case of fixed deposits to make more money. If you want you can opt for a fixed deposit for 1 year and get it renewed annually – whatever suits your requirement.
