Five Things to Consider When Buying a California Home

Most buyers know how many bedrooms and bathrooms they want in a home based on their family size, hosting frequency and whether they like to give parties and need the extra space. However, the size of each room is just as important as the number and a staged home does a better job of giving the buyer a better perspective than an empty one. When looking at pics or standing in the doorway, try to picture your current furniture and a layout that works with the room’s configuration to see if there is enough space for walking, moving around and overall comfortable functionality. This same logic can be applied to the kitchen and living room based on where you spend most of the time and whether there is enough room to accommodate all the things.

Another key feature that may look great in the house and sound like fun but could cause issues is the staircase. This home accessory provides a venue for great party entrances, a way to get the kids upstairs in their own space and a second floor for more space but it can also have a downside. If anyone in your family has health issues, difficulty walking or climbing, has little ones or doesn’t enjoy the pleasant banging noise that comes from listening to the kids running around above their head then this could be a problem. They are a positive addition to a home but realistically compare repetitive usage on a daily basis and make sure you are on board.

There are a variety of Corona Del Mar homes for sale and many of them have extra amenities like a pool, outside garden, exterior kitchen and other features that can enhance a lifestyle. However, these features also require extra maintenance so before committing to becoming the favorite hotspot for your kids’ friends, make sure that you understand the financial and time investment that some of these top of the line additions come with.

When looking for the right home to fit your family, keep in mind your hobbies and schedule as these can affect how a home works in the flow of things. If the group loves the beach and spends a lot of time there then it is probably a good idea to find a home where the backyard is sand and water or if you travel a lot then why not check out the gated communities and homes that offer enhanced privacy with decorative walls and fences.

The key is to buy a home that you can grow or downsize with and look into the future to see if this same location is just as viable as it is today. California is a fantastic place to live with year-round sun, beaches, major events and healthy living so take time to find a place that you can fall in love with and truly enjoy. Check out Laguna Beach homes for sale and in the surrounding communities with a professional realtor to make an offer on a place that will become the family home.
