At this point in time, a large percentage of the world’s population is aware of the perks of choosing locations in the Caribbean Sea as idyllic holiday destinations. From a vibrant atmosphere to friendly locals, delicious food and, of course, stunning beaches and luxury hotels, Caribbean destinations have a number of unique selling points, which attract thousands of tourists from all over the world to their shores each year.

Let’s imagine for a moment, however, that someone had only just heard of this archipelago, and was planning to take their first-ever holiday to one of its many enticing destinations. What follows in the lines below is a sort of ‘beginner’s guide’ that such a person might use to glean some basic information about the islands in that part of the world.

Sun And Surf

The first selling point of the region (albeit one of its less unique) is its breathtaking white-sand beaches, which in most instances stretch for miles all around the islands. Neatly tucked in between the clear, emerald-blue water and the shrub-lined inland roads, these beaches are the main reason most visitors head to this stunning part of the world. The chance to enjoy the sun in a comfortable lounge chair while sipping one of the ubiquitous local beverages is not to be missed!

Luxury Accommodation

Another major selling point for most of the islands in this region of the world is their luxury hotels. Caribbean islands are renowned for their high standard of accommodation, and whether visitors choose to stay in an upmarket hotel, one of the many beach resorts and villas, or somewhere a touch more rustic, they are hardly likely to be disappointed with their temporary living quarters. For commodity, one of the beachfront resorts is recommended, while those looking for a more authentic experience should seek luxury accommodation further inland, away from the main town centres.

A Unique Beat

Aside from their excellent beaches and luxury hotels, Caribbean destinations also tend to attract tourists to their unique atmosphere. Life in these islands moves to a unique beat, usually to the rhythm of reggae and calypso. The laid-back, friendly attitude of the locals mirrors the leisurely, yet colourful nature of the local music styles, and very few foreign visitors to this group of islands have ever had cause to complain about being poorly treated.

The Spice Of Life

The ‘spicy’ nature of local island life also extends to the gastronomic side. Drinks are strong and the food is heavily seasoned, usually with some form of fiery spice. Rather than render them inedible, however, the strong nature of these delicious delicacies, whether liquid or solid, has contributed to make these islands one of the "go-to" spots for an exotic gastronomic experience – something that continues to endear them to foodie tourists seeking new destinations.

This spectacular archipelago is a veritable treasure trove of delights, easily explaining why its islands remain some of the top tourist destinations in the world.
