Posted: May 19, 2014
Would you like an active holiday to invigorate your body and soul and come back home with a new energy? Would you like to combine a sporting holiday with cultural trails and artistic itineraries? Lake Maggiore is the right place for you!Lake Maggiore mountain biking is becoming a real trend in Italy, because the number of foreign tourists and bikers choosing a holiday like this is increasing in the last years.
"If you have a heart and a shirt, sell your shirt and visit the banks of Lake Maggiore". These words were written by Stendhal in one of his literary notes, where he reminded the great experience on Lake Maggiore and the wonderful landscapes of this part of Northern Italy. But he was not alone! Many writers, musicians, artists and painters coming from many European countries used to spend a long period in this part of Italy. Montesquieu e Rosseau, Byron, Dumas, Flaubert and many other famous artists spend long journey here and they were fascinated by the harmony of colours and by the enchanting views. Lake Maggiore area offers unique sceneries, such as narrow paths, wonderful houses and great natural landscapes, especially in some particular moments of the day, such as sunset. A mountain biking holiday along the banks of Lake Maggiore allows tourists to discover new destinations and new views, but it is also a great opportunity to go away from everyday life’s traffic, hard work and urban chaos. Cycling allow to escape from frenetic rhythms of working life. But this is not everything, because cycling in a place like Lake Maggiore helps body and mind to invigorate. A holiday like this is a precious opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful places of Northern Italy combining sport and culture at the same time. You can choose one of the tour operators’ offers and packs (organized and lead by professional guides) or (if you already know the area) you can also choose self-guided tours. This way, travelling across Italy means enjoying the destination and the path to get it as well. When you travel by car, plane or trail, you lose the pleasure of the path, because you focus on the final destination. Cycling allows you to enjoy every single moment of your holiday. Cycling (but also hiking) allows to see different views, smell natural flavors, get new sensations and discover places otherwise you could not admire. Cycling is also an occasion to meet new people and exchange your point of view.
If you spend a holiday on Lake Maggiore, you should not miss Borromee Islands, Santa Caterina del Sasso hermitage and a tour on Lake Maggiore express train.
