When it comes to visiting the island paradise of Menorca, villa holidays invariably promise endless sunny days and clear blue skies. It’s easy to be tempted by such a prospect, especially after enduring days of cold or rain in less-temperate climates. After all, who doesn’t dream of spending lazy days just lounging on the beach with a tall, frosty drink, or swimming in the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean? This tiny Balearic island certainly offers a wealth of attractions and activities to fill your days, but the good news is, the fun doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down.

Spectacular Sunsets

As anyone who has visited the island can attest, the sunsets are out of this world on Menorca. Villa holidays can be spent sitting on your private patio enjoying the painted skies of this magical island, set against the gorgeous backdrop of the Mediterranean ‘Spectacular’ is an apt description, and fortunately this is one must-see attraction that is not only free but that can be experienced from practically anywhere on the island. However, for the very best views, head out to the to Cap de Cavalleria lighthouse, where you can watch the sun melt into the sea with an unimpeded view.

Delectable Dinners

Did you know that mayonnaise was invented on this island? No wonder foodies from all over the world flock to Menorca! Villa holidays on this Balearic island always include an immersion in the local life and traditions. Primarily an agricultural island, the production of food is part of its identity, giving rise to a very strong food culture. From farmers raising local crops and fishermen bringing in fresh seafood from the ocean, to five-star chefs and street vendors, the people of the island more than simply placate their thirst and hunger - they believe in the act of nurturing and sharing joy through food. Whether it’s the richest paella in the most expensive restaurant in the Port of Ciutadella, or a humble empanada at a local cantina, you can be sure it was lovingly prepared. Insider tip: if you want to dine right on the water, check out the boat-restaurant of La Minerva in Mao?, which has table on a floating dock.

Nightlife

Nobody loves dancing more than the people of Menorca! Villa holidays can be enjoyed to a soundtrack of local music, whether it’s a street reggae band playing on the beach or big bands performing at local fiestas. There are also plenty of music events during the year, from rock concerts to jazz music festivals. However, if you want to dance the night away or chill out after a day at the beach, there are also plenty of nightclubs where you can relax and socialize. Check out the Cova d’en Xoroi at Cala’n Porter, a club located in some natural caves 25 metres above sea level, which features live performances and where you can dance until dawn.
