It was founded by Sir Richard Bourke, the Governor of New South Wales during the 19th century. This city has achieved commendable excellence in education, healthcare, tourism, research and development, and other key sectors. This led to it being rated as the most liveable city in 2017 by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Melbourne also ranks among the top 15 cities of the world according to the Global Financial Centres Index. Owing to the diverse options in food, it is also called Australia’s culinary capital.
