A Little about Kaspersky

In 1989, when the Cascade virus broke out and threatened cyber security, Eugene Kaspersky developed the very first version of an antivirus software called Kaspersky Lab. It was mostly distributed to just his friends and family and had a sum total of forty virus definitions in all. But Eugene continued to work on it, and ultimately came up with AVP( Antiviral Toolkit Pro), which was released in the year 1992. Hamburg University gave the software the first place in a highly competitive analysis in the 1994, which was what popularised the software and made it a household name.

Encouraged by the success, in 1997 Alexey De-Monderik, Eugene, his wife Natalya Kaspersky left KAMI and formed the Kaspersky lab. Their intent was to further develop the software, which until then was named AVP. But AVP was registered as trademark by a company in America. The demand for the software spread to countries like Germany, Finland and Japan who wanted to integrate AVP with their own software in 1998. This happened due to CIH, a virus created by a Taiwanese student, that could only be removed by AVP for the first three weeks after its release was released.

The software was quickly taking over the news and the minds of the people. WIRED called the software "advanced for the time." Between 1998 to 2000, there was a 280 percent growth in the revenue from sales in foreign countries. They now had offices in countries like China, Holland, Poland and UK. The software was localised abroad by Natalya who brokered the deals for them. By the year 2000, the company was selling to over 40 countries and had 65 employees working under it.

How to Disable the Parental Control

We may have our own reasons for it, but not all of us can just let our computers be.Whatever your reasons may be; in fear of violation of privacy, for the sake of protecting young minds from the vast and impressionable world of the world wide web or for reasons known only to you; you have every right to protect yourself and your loved ones. Some restrictions need to be put in place, and Parental Control in Kaspersky Total Security helps you do just that.

It is useful in blocking and restricting access to internet, certain applications and the complete computer for specific user accounts. Once Kaspersky in installed into a system, Parental Control is already disabled. In order to activate it, there is the requirement of an active license for it. You can enable/disable it for a specific user or for the current account. It is best to protect the program with a password if you do not want any unauthorized disabling of the parental control. This will disable the parental control on the selected user’s account.

In the program icon, the context menu is the only location from where the enabling or disabling of Parental Control is possible. Once you open the program, click on parental control in main window. In the window displaying the computer users, look for the account for which you wish to disable or enable the Parental Control. Select the user, and click on Child Profile. When a drop down menu appears, select Disable and close the complete window for the program.

Bonus Tip

If you want to enable it again, find the target account in the window displaying all computer users, select the target account, and click on Select Control level. If you had enabled it before, then disabled it and now you want to enable it again, the name may appear as Resume custom restrictions. In a window titled Level of control for user:, click OK after selecting the level of control. This will enable the program on the selected user’s account.
