Two Ways to Open BKF file on Windows 10

Computer backup is a very crucial part of our life. At times, It became really necessary to create the backup of our data to prevent your valuable data. Generally, we prefer to user Windows NTBackup to build our backup which enables us to save the data in file extension.bkf. Later on, we can copy or transfer that backed up data wherever and whenever we want after restoring it using the NTBackup Tool.

Since the NTBackup utility is not available for Windows 10. But you can get the nt5backup.cab file by downloading it from the Internet i.e. free of cost. This nt5backup.cab file will be in a RAR format that contains one executable file and two DLL files. (ntbackup.exe ntmsapi.dll vssapi.dll)

How to Open BKF file in Windows 10

#1 Using NTBackup

Once you have installed the nt5backup file, keep in mind that ntbackup.exe i.e. not enough alone to view BKF file in Windows 10. However, it is important to keep the other two.dll files(ntmsapi.dll, vssapi.dll) at the same location of the.exe file. Otherwise, you would not be able to use this ntbackup.exe file. The.dll files work as supporting files for the ntbackup.exe file, to complete the task all the three files should be present at a similar location.

Note: While restoring the data using this.exe file, do not restore the data at the original location, restore it in some other location.

1. After installing the.cab file, all the three files will appear as follows the nt5backup window

2. Double click on the ntbackup.exe, that will notify a message saying "it does not restore the data from the tape. Keep the BKF file on the system".>Click OK.

3. A Window will pop up, Click on Next button to move forward.

4. Hit on the Restore and Manage Media tab.

5. Now a screen will appear to choose the location to save the restored BKF file.

6. Choose other location(other than original location) to save the file at.

7. Now select the file that you want to back up. Click on Tools> Catalog a backup file. Browse to the location.

8. Hit on Start Restore button.

9. After that, Click OK from the pop-up.

10. In the next windows, you can see the status of restored files.

#2 Using BKF File Viewer
