If you have been using Microsoft Windows based computers for a while you will what I mean when I talk about blue screen errors. Right?

Our shop does computer repairs and we have seen so many of these over the decades, let me give you a history of BSOD.

A stop error, better known as a Blue Screen of Death (also known as a blue screen or BSoD), is an error screen displayed on a Windows computer system after a fatal system error, also known as a system crash: when the operating system reaches a condition where it can no longer operate safely.

The most common BSoD is on an 80×25 screen which is the operating system's way of reporting an interrupt caused by a processor exception; it is a more serious form of the general protection fault dialog boxes.

Reasons for BSoDs include:

-Hardware incompatibilities-Faulty or poorly written device drivers-Problems that occur with incompatible versions of DLLs: Windows loads these DLLs into memory when they are needed by application programs; if versions are changed, the next time an application loads the DLL it may be different from what the application expects. These incompatibilities increase over time as more new software is installed, and is one of the main reasons why a freshly installed copy of Windows is more stable than an "old" one.

Red Screen of Death" redirects here. Red Screen of Death may also refer to an error message used on the PlayStation systems.

The Red Screen of Death in Windows VistaStop errors are comparable to kernel panics in macOS, Linux, and other Unix-like systems, and to bugchecks in OpenVMS. Windows 3.1, as well as macOS, display a Black Screen of Death instead of a blue one

In other words, faulty RAM can cause a computer to stop responding and damage the computer motherboard, to prevent that from happening, make sure you replace your computer memory.

Purple Screen of Death

A purple diagnostic screen as seen in VMware ESX Server 3.0

A purple diagnostic screen from VMware ESXi 4.1In the event of a hardware error, the vmkernel can catch a Machine Check Exception.[20] This results in an error message displayed on a purple diagnostic screen. This is colloquially known as a purple diagnostic screen, or purple screen of death (PSoD, cf. Blue Screen of Death (BSoD)).

Upon displaying a purple diagnostic screen, the vmkernel writes debug information to the core dump partition. This information, together with the error codes displayed on the purple diagnostic screen can be used by VMware support to determine the cause of the problem.
