Kailash Mansarovar is indeed God’s own created land. The name is enough to make people get awed with its mesmerizing beauty. No words can truly define the splendor of this destination, which is well-famed for Mt. Kailash, Gauri Kund and Lake Mansarovar. This spiritual place is revered by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bonpos. It is certainly impossible to find a place such as Kailash Mansarovar, which is brilliantly picturesque as well as spiritually enlightening. Every person feels privileged to be a part of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which takes place every year between the months of June to September.

It’s the Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar which are majorly significant among people of various cultures and religious. So, let’s see how the mythology differs from culture to culture:

Hindus: In this religion, it is deemed that at the highest peak of Mt. Kailash, Lord Shiva resides with his divine companion Parvati. They’re both perceived to be sitting there in deep meditation. Not only Mount Kailash, but Lake Mansarovar is equally significant among the Hindu devotees. Legend has that Lake Mansarovar was first created in the mind (manas) of Lord Brahma; hence the lake (sarovar) is termed as Mansarovar. To reach at this holy place in Tibet, one needs to travel through the mountains and plains of Nepal and China.

Jains: Referred as Mountain Astapada by the Jains, Mt. Kailash is believed to be the place where Lord Rishabdev, the first of the twenty-four Tirthankaras achieved Nirvana. Hence, it is no surprise to see millions of Jains going to Kailash Yatra every year.

Buddhists: Sacred place, Mt. Kailash is where the Buddhists feel empowered and they think that place this needs to be visited by everyone once in a lifetime. It’s believed that Kailash is where Buddha Demchok, who embodies supreme bliss, resides with his consort.

While legend related to Lake Mansarovar goes that it is where Lord Buddha was mystically conceived. Buddha’s mother was carried here by the gods and then she continuously bathed in the holy waters till her body attained divine pureness. Soon after Buddha entered her womb!

Both Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar make for extremely gorgeous sight and people dream to spend their entire lifetime to this exceptionally beautiful place.
