Cornelia was built on seven hills slopes which are part of the highest mountain groups in Georgia called the Blue Ridge Mountains. The town is located almost 1600 feet above the sea and has many hills and dales, within those are also beautiful fresh running streams and springs. It is set in between Chenocetah Mountain and the Currahee Mountain and was bought as part of a bigger land group called the Four Mile back in 1804.

The whole city is on land and is around 8.8 km squared in size, it had 3,834 residents when the last count was obtained in 2010 and the numbers continue to grow as more people move into this appealing city. One of the main reasons it is known for is the fact it has one of the biggest apple structures weighing in at a staggering 5200 pounds. It stands at 7-foot-tall and people come from miles around, even from other countries to see it!

The tourism from not only the statue, but other attractions too brings in tourism, which is great for those looking to settle here as not only is there always something to do there; jobs in retail, hotels and other tourism related companies are always plentiful.

Why move to Cornelia?

Since the 2010 census the population has grown showing the city has even more to offer. The growth of population is up more than 10% since the millennium! The cost of living is below average in comparison to the rest of the states set at around 8% lower! People with children will be happy to know that the schools teacher – pupil ration is smaller and less students per teacher is always a good thing when it comes to education. To each teacher there are around 13 students! Staying in line with education the expenditure per student each year is higher than the national average showing that the city is happy to spend more on resources and educational needs.

Those looking to find employment in Cornelia Real Estate are more likely to find a job here due to the increase of availability being up 0.29% and the unemployment rate being lower than the national average. With the city raising in popularity house prices are set to rise even further which is great news for those that are looking to buy as an investment or buy to let.

What else is great about Cornelia?

One thing is for sure, as a resident of Cornelia you will never be bored of things to do and neither will anyone visiting you. As the city is historic and full of charm there are many attractions to keep all ages occupied. In downtown there are lots of shops to appease all tastes including a range of restaurants and food experiences. The Chenocetah Tower that was constructed in the 1930’s was used originally as a fire observation tower, that was until 1971 but it still stands proud and overlooks the city. The recreational area is also home to the huge Red Apple structure which sits opposite the railroad depot. For those who love to skateboard there is a great park to try out their skills and for the furry members of the community there is even a canine park!
