What Do You Need for Kimberley Tours?
Posted: Apr 25, 2019
Kimberley adventures and tours are a fantastic way to explore this amazing area. However, many visitors to the area are aware of the diverse landscape and myriad activities, so worry about what they should bring on their trip. So, here we’ll explore a list of the essentials you’ll need for Kimberley tours.
Footwear
The Kimberley is considered one of the most rugged areas in Western Australia, so you can expect some challenging conditions if you want to get off the beaten track. This means that the right footwear is crucial.
Firstly, you’ll need to pack some sturdy shoes. Hiking boots, runners or comfortable walking shoes should fit the bill, but try to ensure that they are broken in before your tour. You’ll also need some shoes that you can wear in the water. If you want to visit falls, gorges, and swimming holes during your tour, you can expect to be walking in wet conditions, so you’ll need footwear that provides grip, and you’re not bothered about getting wet.
Swimming GearKimberley tours often include visits to some amazing swimming holes and falls, so you’ll need to be sure to have plenty of swimming gear. Pack a few sets of bathers and have a swimming towel, so you can enjoy swimming even if your gear is still a little damp from the day before.
Sun Protection
In addition to your sunscreen and insect repellent, it is a good idea to pack additional sun protection. The sun in the Kimberley can be very harsh, so you may prefer to have a hat to protect your head and long sleeved, light cotton shirts to help you cover up. After all, you won’t want to miss out on any excursions because you feel like a boiled lobster from your sun exposure, the day before.
Toiletries
While there are shops in the Kimberley, when you’re trying to pack in all the activities of Kimberley adventures, you may not want to waste time searching for your favourite brand of shampoo or moisturiser. So, it is a good idea to bring all your favourite toiletries that you’ll need with you.
Clothing
We’ve touched on long sleeved, cotton shirts above, but in addition to your usual summer garb, you may wish to consider bringing a sweater, cardigan or other warmer cover up for the evenings. When the sun sets, you may be surprised at how the temperature drops, so it will feel much cooler. Having a cosy sweater will help you to feel more comfortable, so you can get out an explore the Kimberley nightlife and some of the superb restaurants in the area.
Gear and Gadgets
Finally, don’t forget to pack your camera, mp4 player and e-book reader, with all the chargers, adapters and accessories.
