The Marble Mountains (Vietnam)
The Marble Mountains is located 9km south of Da Nang, on the way to Hoi An. Made up of limestone and marble, it is a cluster of mountains with temples, peaks and caves in the coastal area that is famous for stone-cutting and sculpture. There are five hills and according to the ancient oriental philosophy all are named after the different elements- Kim (metal), Moc (Wood), Tho (Earth), Hoa (Fire) and Thuy (Water). There are various cave and tunnel entrances which are easily accessible and are exciting to explore. On the way to the peak, there are many Buddhist sanctuaries and still people worship them. Once you reach the top it is full of magnificent panoramic views and a must visit destination for a spiritual traveler.
The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia (Turkey)
The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are the two most popular tourist attractions in Turkey. They internationally represent the Turkish culture. Hagia Sophia was built in built in 360 AD and still considered an important landmark in Istanbul. For more than 1000 years it was the largest cathedral, later it was converted into a mosque and now it works as a museum. The walls and ceiling are engraved with Christian portraits and Arabic scriptures. On the opposite side, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque is situated also known as the Blue Mosque because of the color of its interior tiles, glass work and carpets. It was built in 1616 and still can accommodate 10,000 people at the time of prayer. Most importantly to witness the mosque and its worshippers, to hear the sounds of faith or to feel the spirituality makes the stopover even more special and unforgettable.
Devils Tower, (USA)
Devils Tower declared by President Theodore Roosevelt as the America’s first national monument 1906. It is 1,267 feet above the Belle Fourche River and stands 867 feet high from the base of the summit. It is a laccolithic butte composed of igneous rock and is sacred ground for more than 20 tribes. The boundary of Devils Tower encloses more than 1300 acres of land. The climbers have to climb the summit traditionally and during the month of June, the climbers are requested to show respect for the place because of many ceremonies and rituals held at the Devils Tower.
Mahabodhi Tree, Bodh Gaya,(India)
Located 100 km south of Patna, Mahabodhi Tree, and Bodh Gaya is one of the holiest places for the Buddhists. Bodh Gaya is the place of Prince Siddhartha where he attained enlightenment and became Lord Buddha. Bodh Gaya has been an energetic centre of faith for the sangha, Buddhists and Lamas along with people of other religions as well. A beautiful Buddha statue under the tree identifies the significant spot. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site and attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. The place is full of peace and has a great influence in the spiritual world.
Teotihuacan, (Mexico)
The Teotihuacan city is located in the valley of Mexico which consists of two famous pyramids, the Pirámide Del Sol (Pyramid of the Sun) and the Pirámide de la Luna (Pyramid of the Moon). Many pyramids are surrounding this place and were used for human and animal sacrifice also known as ‘Avenue of the Dead'. You can hike up to the pyramids and enjoy the panoramic view of the whole area. This place is famous worldwide due to its authentic beauty and architectural grace.
