Snowboarding in and Around La Tania
Posted: Jun 19, 2014
When you're looking for the perfect winter holiday getaway to expand your snowboarding skills, get a group together and book in to an alpine ski chalet. La Tania and the surrounding Three Valleys region is an ideal location for a winter break and the accommodation is second to none.
Located in the eastern part of France, not too far from the borders of Italy and Switzerland, this lovely resort was built as a place for the hockey players and journalists to stay during the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, and has been growing steadily ever since. With many a beautiful ski chalet, La Tania’s lovely ambience and ability to blend into its natural surrounds are a major draw. But that aside, if you're looking to maximise your time on your snowboard, there are plenty of places to go and schools to have you boarding like a pro in no time.
Getting started
If you are not a seasoned snowboarder, but you still want to enjoy your holiday in a ski chalet, La Tania is an ideal choice, with a range of school. In and around the resort, there are several schools that can teach you everything - from the very basics of how to get on your board, to the ins and outs of using lifts and stopping safely. If you haven’t ever snowboarded before, booking some time for a few lessons will benefit you more than you know. There is actually is one ski school here that is dedicated solely to snowboarding: Cab 9. The fully qualified instructors can give you lessons (in English or French) and, once you learn the basics, they will take you up in to the mountains to get to grips with the beginner and easy slopes before progressing further.
Mid-range skills
If you feel like you're already comfortable with the basics of snowboarding and have spent time on the sport on a previous holiday in a ski chalet, La Tania has plenty to offer you. The range of intermediate pistes is hard to beat, with two lifts and access to the entirety of the Courchevel Valley region. The resort town itself has three runs that lead into it, which make a perfect end to a day on the slopes in the Three Valleys area. Likewise, there are plenty of green and blue runs to keep you challenged and improve your skills.
Advanced snowboarders
Think the red and blue runs are just a bit too easy and you want to fire it up a bit and really push yourself? Well, you'll have plenty of options to get you out of your ski chalet! La Tania is the ideal place to get test your skills on some of the harder slopes. The area of the Three Valleys has over 600 kilometres of pistes, ten percent of which are black. Plus, if you are an expert, you can hit the many off-piste locations nearby. However, remember it is best to do this with an experienced guide who can help you navigate the mountains.
