How to Apply for New NPS Scheme Online Registration Form

Definition of NPS

NPS is basically a contribution based pension scheme that has been launched by the Indian government with the objective of extending and allowing the old age retirement fund to the citizens who have opted for this scheme. The scheme is regulated and monitored by the PFRDA or known the pension fund regulatory and development authority. It was initially launched by the government for only the government employees, but in 2009 it was also extended to the non-government citizens too.

The types of NPS account-

Tier I Account

It is a non-withdrawal permanent retire account but since 2011 the subscriber can we draw a specific amount of money after he or she has completed 15 years of service.

  1. Tier II Account

It allows you to take out the money whenever you want that is it actually acts as a savings account. It can only be opened if the subscriber has a tier I account.

Few Ways of Opening an NPS Account

  1. If you have a bank account in one of the 17 banks that are registered with the NSDL you can open a NOS account online.
  2. If your pan card details are linked to your savings account or if your aadhar card is linked and the KYC has been done with your account you can easily open an NPS account online.

Steps of Opening an NPS Account

There are 2 basic ways by which you can open the account online.

  • If you are registering your account with the aadhar card-

  • 1. First of all your aadhaar card has to be linked with your mobile number.

  1. 2. The NPS KYC will be done with your registered mobile number by sending an OTP for authentication.

  2. 3. Your personal data along with your photograph would be accessed from your aadhaar card and will be used in the NPS online registration form.

  3. 4. The rest of the necessary details have to be filled by you properly.

  4. 5. For the correct registration purpose, you have to upload a scanned image of your signature in.JPG or.JPEG format and the size of the file should be within 4-12 KB.

  5. 6. You can also replace the image provided from the aadhar card by a recent one.

  6. 7. After successful registration, you can easily make the first transaction to your NPS account with the help of net banking or debit cards.

    • If you are registering with your pan card-

  1. 1. In this case, your KYC is taken care of by your bank. This is the main reason why you must have a savings account in an NSDL registered Bank.

  2. 2. The details provided by you at the time of the online form filling should match the details present in your bank. If the details do not match, the bank may reject your new pension Scheme form and then you have to contact them personally.

  3. 3. Fill in all the necessary details and upload a scanned photograph and signature.

  4. 4. You can use UPI or debit cards for the initial contribution to your NPS account.
