Mauritius is an enchanting island country in the Indian Ocean, explored by more than a million tourists every year. White-sand beaches, crystal-clear sapphire waters, and other fascinating attractions are the highlights of this popular travel destination. Besides all the attractions worth visiting in this island nation, you'll also enjoy a cosmopolitan environment while getting around in its popular places. Over the years, people belonging to different cultures and ethnic backgrounds have made this country their home. While holidaying in this island country, you'll get to explore some of its wonderful offerings.

The Mauritius holiday deals would allow you to have a significant amount of savings, which you can utilise during your sightseeing trips. The capital city of Port Louis would be the best place to begin exploring the country. It was built by Mahe de Labourdonnais in the 18th century amidst a mountain range and the Mauritian capital has managed to preserve many historic buildings over the years. One of them is a fortification constructed by the British in the 19th century called Fort Adelaide. Among the major tourist attractions in Port Louis are Port Louis Bazaar, Caudan Waterfront, Mauritian Chinatown, and the old Port Louis theatre.

While enjoying your Mauritius holidays, you'll also get to visit the Chamarel Park, where the seven-coloured earth and Chamarel falls are located. The seven-coloured earth has been a geological curiosity for many people since it was found and is now a major tourist attraction in the country. It is the only place in the world where the dunes of 7 colours exist. Violet, red, green, yellow, blue, brown, and purple are the colours of these dunes. During your visit to this awe-inspiring spot in Mauritius, you can also explore the Chamarel falls. These beautiful waterfalls are considered to be the best in this nation.

Yet another interesting place you can witness during your cheap Mauritius holidays is the Grand Bassin, which is called Ganga Talao by the Hindus of this country. It has been named after a lake in the district of Savanne, which is located at an altitude of 600 metres. This lake is considered holy by the Hindus as they believe that the water contained in it communicates with the holy Ganges of India. Hindus also perform their pilgrimage on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri by visiting this lake and the temple built close to it, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The other Hindu deities worshipped in the temple are Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Hanuman.

Don't miss an extinct volcano called Trou aux Cerfs, which is located at a height of 605 metres with a 300-metre crater that has a depth of 85 metres. It is located in a town called Curepipe and is the main attraction in this part of Mauritius. You'll find a small lake in the centre of this crater. From a vantage point on the crater, you can enjoy spectacular views of the surroundings. It is believed that Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano that was formed millions of years back and was active until nearly 700,000 years ago.

You can also explore many fascinating attractions with a Bali holidays package.
