Founded in the 2nd century BC, Antalya has become one of the most popular tourist hotspots in Turkey today. It is explored by millions of tourists every year owing to its enchanting natural surroundings, historic attractions, and rich cultural heritage. As a result, many 5-star hotels, restaurants, and other establishments catering to the demands of tourists have come up over a period of time since the large-scale development projects began in the region. During winters, the magnificent mountains are thronged by skiing enthusiasts, while the beaches offer perfect environs to enjoy some pleasant moments under the sun.

Your Antalya holidays give you the chance to indulge in some exciting activities outdoors. Almost all of the holiday packages would include sightseeing tours, which allow you to visit the most famous ancient sites. They'll surely remind you of a glorious past that the region once enjoyed, particularly during the Roman era. One such historical site is the ruins of Perge. The signs of a splendid Roman architecture still exist in the form of ruins. However, a massive stadium is what intrigues many tourists who visit this ancient site. It is believed that the stadium accommodated more than 10,000 spectators during the ancient times when some thrilling chariot races were held at this spot.

The savings made on your Antalya holidays can be utilised during your sightseeing trips to visit yet another historical site of the ruined city of Aspendos. It is located at a distance of about 40 kilometres from this Turkish city and is home to an Ancient theatre, which is considered to be one of the best-preserved theatres in the world. This theatre was built during the 1st century and is believed to have accommodated nearly 8,000 people during the performances held at this place. You can explore each and every corner of this theatre by climbing up the rows of seating.

Some of the beautiful natural surroundings that the city possesses can also be explored during your Antalya holidays. A short drive or a boat trip around the coastal area would give you the chance to witness the Duden Waterfalls. They comprise two falls, namely the Upper Duden and the Lower Duden. Located at a distance of about 15 kilometres from the city, these waterfalls can be reached by a local bus or a car hired from any of the regional operators. A cave formed by the waterfalls can also be visited for getting a different view of these two waterfalls.

One particular tourist attraction you wouldn't like to miss while holidaying in this part of Turkey is 'Kaleici' or the Old Town. The Turkish authorities have done a commendable job of preserving this old neighbourhood of the city and its structures. Although you'll also come across some Roman ruins in Kaleici, most of the structures in the neighbourhood were built during the Ottoman era. Among them is the Yivli Minare Mosque, which has a tall minaret that makes this building easily recognisable. Taking a stroll in the Old Town is always a pleasure on its cobblestone streets lined with the red-roofed Ottoman mansions painted in white shades.
