Uses of Funeral Services
Posted: Jun 16, 2019
A Ceremony for burying the body of a dead person is called a Funeral. There are organizations who provide services at the funeral to help the family members. The services may include burial arrangements, arranging urns, flower arrangements, transportation means, obituaries and more. Some of the interesting services are mentioned below.
Burial Services:
Usually, a burial service is a short ceremony held after the main funeral service while the coffin is lowered into the ground. Mourners are often invited to attend the burial, which may include short readings and prayers, depending on religious beliefs.
These are different elements you can choose from when arranging a burial, depending upon your individual needs and preferences.
Immediate Burial
Visitation
Funeral or Memorial services and
Graveside,Chapel or committed services
Cremation Services:
Cremation is an increasingly common choice. When you choose cremation, you have many options to honour your loved one’s life. You can provide a chance for friends and family to say goodbye through a final viewing before the cremation, and you can also hold a formal service either before or after the cremation occurs. After the cremation itself, there are a variety of choices for your loved one’s final disposition.
Interment
Graveside Services
Flower Funeral Services:
Although customs vary depending on the family’s religion or ethnicity, funeral arrangements of condolence flowers or basket gardens often are sent to the church, the funeral home, or the family’s home. If the obituary specifically asks for donations to a charity in lieu of funeral flowers, it is good etiquette to follow the family’s wishes.Today, funeral flowers are not mandatory, but they are one way people express their love for the deceased and concern for members of the family. Flowers can be ordered from a florist and delivered to the funeral home or residence.
Flowers for a funeral should arrive at the funeral home before the first visiting hours, to be there when the family arrives. If time does not permit delivery before visiting hours, flowers or a plant can be sent to the home of the bereaved. A potted plant has obvious symbolic meaning because it will continue to live and grow.
Meaning of Flower Funeral:
Flowers are thought to represent the Natural circle of life. Different types of flowers also have different symbolism.
Types of Flowers:
Lilies - Peace and Purity
Roses - Love and Friendship
Gladioli - Strength and courage
Carnations - Mother’s Love
Chrysanthemums - Sadness and grief
Orchids - Sympathy
Funeral service managers and florists can help you find the perfect floral tributes for a loved one’s funeral. Although there are some traditional choices, more and more types of flowers are becoming acceptable for funeral flower arrangements. If there’s a particular flower that was your loved one’s favourite, ask your chosen funeral service manager or florist to incorporate it into the arrangements. Alternatively, more people are choosing not to have funeral flowers. Instead, mourners are asked to make a charitable donation in the name of the person who has died.
