So, what is that tip? Is the suspense killing you? Well, you might find the tip a bit underwhelming, but here it is!

Be patient!

Yes, you read that right. The single most important attribute that will make you a great paintball sniper is patience. Why? Because, as a sniper, you need to make your shots count. You are not like other paintball players who uses 5 pods of paintball to take out 2 opponents in one hour. That’s not how sniping works.

As a sniper, you ideally have to take out 2 opponents with just 2 precious shots! That’s a world of difference when you think about it.

How does patience play a part in this? In several ways actually.

First of all, you need to be patient to find a good spot to camp. Unless you are a mobile sniper, you will probably want to hunker down in one spot, well-hidden but at the same time in such a place that your enemies frequently come into your sights. Scoping out such a spot takes time and patience. The best snipers out there spend even an hour to find a spot, without even taking the safety off their rifles! With a good spot, the job is half done!

The next job is to aim with patience. If you have done your practice right, it probably means that you understand how exactly your paintball sniper rifle shoots. You need to know how your rifle shoots to the left, to the right, to the top or the bottom of the target that you see in your cross hairs. If you haven’t figured this out in practice, you must actually practice in the game, using immobile targets like rocks or trees as shooting practice targets. Be careful that your opponents don’t see paintballs flying from your position as they will track you down and take you out. Take 5 or 10 well-time practice shots, with several seconds or even minutes between shots, to make sure you understand the dynamics of your paintball sniping gun. Once you are ready and have a target locked in, take calculated shots. If you miss, wait. See if your opponent has figured out that you shot and missed. If he is frantically trying to find you, wait it out.

Taking another shot will mean he sees where the paintball is coming from.
