Tips for Domestic Air Travel in India

In the last article, I shared my brief experience of domestic Air Travel. Today, I will share with you some of the tips I feel which could be useful for other fellow travelers.

Tips for Domestic Air Travel in India

  1. Always keep your travel ticket using a name that has a valid national identity test to avoid any kind of problems at a later stage or boarding.
  2. When booking discounted tickets, especially return tickets through non-airline travel portals, always check the cancellation rules on the airline's website and portals. Travel for any type of mismatch or separation. Sometimes sentences, even entries that can be retrieved have sentences. I had an issue with the Yatra youth, where I booked a return ticket at a reduced rate and was told that I could not cancel the return because I had made the trip abroad. I can only reprogram with the charges and that too in his will. However, the ticket status was recoverable when booked. I've had a great discussion with them and would never want to go back to Yatra for any of my reservations, as it was also a setback in my emails. Usually the best makemytrip, but I take care of this point to check the rules in both locations (airlines and your companies).
  3. If you are interested in taking some travel insurance along with the ticket while you book it (usually for a very small amount), make sure you first check the travel insurance company to see the rules. In one case, there was a condition for delayed flight and part of the associated amount would be paid after more than 6 hours of delay on my trip. My flight was delayed for a few hours first, but it was finally canceled, which practically delayed me two days because the airline re-programmed two days later. When I applied for a two-day delay (exceeding the 6-hour limit), the travel insurance company told me that the flight had been canceled without delay and therefore could not pay anything. Now, imagine or maybe I'm wrong: will the trip be delayed for two days without cancellation? I'm not sure, what is the top limit for canceling the trip, I'm not sure or I'm not aware of it. However, it may be for you something you should know before paying this little extra for travel insurance.
  4. When booking airline tickets, know the rules of the facilities that will be provided by the airline if you cancel the flight and do not belong to that city or place. In one such incident, while Jet Airways arranged a one-day stay for its passengers, GoAir did not have any installation or display, although the price was not very different.
  5. Try checking in to the Internet if possible or available with the airline, or try to book them as soon as possible after arrival at the airport. Sometimes, this is very useful in cases where you want to experience a golden sunrise as in the Himalayas or to avoid seats in the last row, which may have a narrower leg space. I suffered badly on an Indigo flight while traveling from Srinagar and I had a torsion in my stomach due to the tightness of my leg and the incorrect position of the seats. Although you can live without seeing Golden Dawn, a long journey with an incorrect position can worry you a lot. For convenience, I still feel that the Indian Airlines are much better though they are expensive at times
  6. When packing your items, you know in advance what you can transport on an airplane and what not, especially when certain things are mentioned specifically for certain airports such as Les, Srinagar, where no type of portable luggage is permitted. Try to pack your items in a reasonable manner with the classification of electronic products, fragile items, money or other valuables, etc.

Make sure you arrive at the time of the report as stated or requested from the airline and get your boarding pass in time to avoid any last minute problems. I was injured when another passenger took my luggage from the security checkpoint and registered it. It took a long time to locate the luggage loss so that all the counters were closed. It was the security of the assistant who returned the tickets and luggage. It is always best to check the flight status before departure or the previous night, especially in the winter in northern India, where it was useful when I checked the flight status of India just one day ago to know that the flight schedules had changed a few hours late.

  1. Do not forget to take your national photo identification test with you and also ask other travelers traveling with you to come with them. It always helps in getting them.
  2. If you booked your ticket with your credit card number, do not forget to bring your credit card with CVV.
  3. Always try to carry any fragile element as your luggage, where items are sometimes misused or asked to be identified as fragile. I broke the triple trip when I was traveling with a flight from GoAir to Ladakh in 2012.

I hope you find the tips above helpful when planning your flight for your trip. Share your experience or any advice you consider useful to all other travelers
