There was a time when Muslims living in the United Kingdom had to depend on one of the local travel agents in order to get their journey to the holy city of Makkah arranged in order to perform their Umrah. The cost of the entire journey quoted by these agents was unaffordable to many and they had to keep postponing their plans of performing the 'lesser pilgrimage' owing to lack of adequate finances. However, it has become much easier for Muslims residing in the UK to book a package for Umrah in recent times as many tour operators specialising in Islamic religious tours have come up in various parts of the country.

Over the past few years, the Umrah packages UK tour operators provide have been made available in several categories on their websites. This has now made it easier for the prospective pilgrims in the country to go through the packages and book a suitable one according to their preferences of cost and facilities offered. As almost all these websites are mobile-friendly, Muslims of the UK can also browse the packages on these websites and book a suitable one using their smartphones. If they book a package several months in advance, they can have greater savings. The amount saved can be used during their time spent in Makkah for buying souvenirs and visiting some important Islamic sites.

Among these sites are the three sacred mountains. One of them is Jabal al-Noor, which is a mountain located in the Hejazi region close to the holy city of Makkah. The name of this mountain literally translates as 'Mountain of Light'. It got its name from an event that took place inside the cave housed in this mountain, called the 'Cave of Hira'. This is the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had received his first revelation comprising the five ayats of Surah Al-Alaq from the Archangel Jibreel (A.S).

Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal al-Rahmah, is yet another mountain of great significance for Muslims across the world. The name translates as 'Mountain of Mercy' and refers to an event mentioned in the Islamic traditions. According to this event, the first prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was forgiven for his sin at this particular place. In recent times, a pillar has also been erected in order to show the exact spot where this event took place. This is also believed to have been the place where Adam (peace be upon him) and Hawwah (peace be upon her) were reunited after they fell from heaven.

Pilgrims from the UK can also visit Mount Abu Qubais, which is located on the eastern frontier of Makkah. The exact origin of this mountain is still unknown, but it is believed to have been known by the name 'al-Amin' during the times when this particular region was inhabited by pagan Arabs. Another legend states that it was the place where the first of men stayed and were buried after they died. The Islamic traditions state that this is the place where Prophet Muhammad had shown pagans the miracle of the 'splitting of the moon'.
