There is something truly exotic about harem pants. These pants are very unlike other pants and have a baggy look and feel to them. These pants are stylish and allow a lot of room for the skin to breath.

Harem pants originated 2000 years ago in the land of Persia. It was common for women to wear revealing clothes within the household; however, while outside, the norm of the country was that every woman should maintain their modesty. And keeping in mind both modesty and convenience, these pants were made.

The harem pants for women were not too revealing and was not body hugging at all. And at the same time, these pants allowed women to work and go about their business in a comfortable manner, as they were ultimately pants.

However, today, the harem pants is a raging trend. Women all over the world, and especially in India have adopted the harem pant and made it their own. In the first half of the article, we will be talking about the various types of Harem pants that you can add to your wardrobe. In the second part, we will talk regarding how to style your Harem pants.

Types of Hare Pants

There are several categories of harem pants. We are categorizing the most popular and stylish ones below:

  1. Wide Style Harem Pants- These harem pants for women look somewhat like skirts. However, you can see a distinct division at the bottom. These pants are available in a wide variety of colors.
  2. Arabic Harem Pants- These are very close to the traditional harem pants, only that they are less baggy. Jasmine in Aladdin wears this type of Harem pants.
  3. Printed Harem Pants- Monochrome is yesteryear's fashion. In 2019, women love printed pants, and the harem style is no different. You can opt for a fully printed style or one that has prints just on the outskirts.
  4. Buckled Hem- These look like regular harem pants from the top. But the hem of these harem pants is characterized with one or several buckles, which gives them a distinct tapering look. This type of pants looks incredibly well with casual T-shirts or tank tops.
  5. Harem Pants with waist-knot- This type of harem pants has the typical harem pleats. What distinguishes these pants from the rest is the presence of a strip of cloth toe on the waist. With it, you can stylishly tie a knot on the waist or make a bow. It looks, stylish, elegant and supremely feminine.
  6. Cowl Harem Pants- You must have heard of cowls on top-wears. The cowl-harem pants are a new inclusion that is about to set the fashion market on fire. In this type of pants, there is a cowl-type formation on the cloth that falls between the two legs. You can team this up with any top-wear of your choice to look effortlessly pretty.
Ways to Style Harem Pants
  • Consider body type- If you are a petite girl, consider going for the high-waisted harem pants that have a lesser flare. If you are on the curvy side, you can settle for a mid-waist or low-waist pants with more flare.
  • No More Minimalism- To be casual on a casual day is one thing, and following a 'minimalistic' trend is another thing. Girls, please phase out of the minimalist trend and be vibrant, gorgeous, and beautiful.

P.S. - The Persian women (the land of the origin of the harem pants) were not minimalists at all. They decked up well and looked like goddesses.

  • Accessorize- The best accessory that goes with harem pants is a waistband. However, opt for a waistband only if you are going for a fusion-look. Wear statement neckpieces and chunky earrings to stylize your harem pants and look your personal best.
