Mother tongue plays an important role in life and it defines the choices made by the person and the person as a whole. English is the third most spoken language all over the world. It is a language that links everyone internationally. There are many people around the globe whose mother tongue is not English and does not speak English that well. If a person is not good at a non-native language English, it can not be concluded that he/she is not intelligent or less in intelligent than a person who knows English perfectly. One must know the native language most prominently then only another language can be learned.

Mother language for immigrants. (Perspective 1)

These days when people commonly travel to different places, multiculturalism is a normal thing. To express sadness, happiness, and fear every person uses the first language first as it goes straight to the heart. It is ethically essential to pass down the mother tongue to the next generation, but to get new opportunities in the outer world learning a new language can prove to be beneficial. In accordance with several studies, it has been seen, that people react to the situations differently when they are shown the movie, words, etc. in their mother language than if they see same in other languages they understand.

In the case of immigrants, mother language is their cultural identity and is used within the family to keep a good communication among children and family. The immigrant parents should take special care of this thing that their children must learn their mother tongue. The language depicts the cultural identity of an individual.

If the children are not made proficient enough in their mother language, then the second language which they speak the most tends to become their native language. Parents should teach mother tongue to their kids if they don’t want any other language to take place of the mother tongue in their children’s life. Parents should talk in mother tongue with their kids, and to develop literary skills in kids, parents should tell stories to kids. By telling family heritage-related stories the child’s interest can be aroused in the native language.

Why is it important to learn languages other than the mother tongue? (Perspective 2)

When people travel to other countries, they often find many difficulties. For example: Take a fictional example, a girl went to the USA, with her mother and father who are originally from India. The parents of the girl don’t know English at all. She has to translate every single word for her parents. For a long time, she did the translation. One day she got worried, how her parents will manage without her? Many people perceived them strangely. Although it is her duty to help her parents, by the situation at times she started feeling annoyed.

In accordance with perspective 2, "Mother tongue should be given special importance, but to survive in a foreign country, one must learn the native language of that place. For example, Learn English if you are shifting to the USA or Australia." Says an academic writing expert from Assignment Help 4 Me.

In conclusion,

To express oneself to the fullest and freely, the native language is considered the most beneficial and positive. Also, it is easy to find solutions for a problem while communicating in the native language. One can learn other languages easily if he/she has a good understanding of listening, reading the writing and speaking the mother tongue.
