The Mosque of Ibn Tulun
The Mosque of Ibn Tulun is one of the world’s largest and oldest mosques, constructed back in 876 in the Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood of Cairo. This majestic red brick structure is home to beautifully carved stuccos, curved arches, ornamental pillars, the Abbasid architecture of Iraq and various courtyards enclosed by magnificently carved balconies.
Cairo Tower
The Cairo Tower is one of Africa’s tallest buildings which was constructed in 1961, offering amazing panoramic views of the city from its observation deck. This excellent structure was designed by Egyptian architect Naoum Chebib with impressive carvings, colourful mosaics and a stunning design resembling a lotus flower.
Ben Ezra Synagogue
The Ben Ezra Synagogue was originally a Christian church which was converted into a synagogue by Ben Ezra; it is believed to be the famous site of the Cairo Geniza, which was significant to Jewish history. This religious site is a now prominent place of pilgrimage, featuring a basilica shape, incredible Turkish floral motifs, intricate mosaic patterns, ivory carvings and Ottoman style architecture.
