Don’t Forget To Do These Things When You Reopen Your Pool This Spring

Have you begun using your Swimming Pool again yet? If not, now is the time to get serious about it, as the conditions improve to the extent that most of us can actually enjoy an outdoor swim once more.

The good news about the process of opening a pool for the spring is that there’s no one way of doing it – everyone has a slightly different approach. Nonetheless, here are some of the steps that we would especially advise you to take at this delicate and important stage of the year for your pool.

Take your winter cover off the pool

At the most basic level, this step simply involves removing the winter cover, allowing it to fully dry and then packing it away for when you next need it later in the year.

However, it’s also a good idea to first remove any surface water and debris, such as leaves and dirt, from the top of the cover. Indeed, you should keep an eye out for any accumulation of debris over the coming months as you switch to using your solar cover, given the potential for any build-up to cause the cover to bow and even rip in the middle.

If your winter cover has sustained damage, you won’t want to end up forgetting about it and only being reminded when the time comes to winterise your pool. That’s why now would be the perfect time to purchase a new standard or bespoke winter cover from ourselves here at Pool Warehouse.

Carry out the necessary water checks

On the subject of our own Pool Supplies In The Uk, we also have a complete section of our online store dedicated to all of the swimming pool water testing essentials, such as test strips and pH test kits. This brings us neatly onto our next point.

Testing the water for pH level is crucial when you are reopening your pool for the spring. A level of between 7.0 and 7.6 is fine for now, but about 7.2 would be ideal, and if the figure is either side of that broad range, we have pH Plus and pH Minus products in our store that will enable you to adjust it.

Assess the clarity of your pool

Quite simply, you will either be able to see the bottom of your pool... or you won’t. If the former applies, you might not need to do much more than retrieving any lingering leaves at the bottom of the pool with your deep leaf net.

If the bottom of your pool isn’t visible, though, you’ll need to take more drastic action. That could mean dumping the existing water and refilling, or attempting to clean the water already there with the use of appropriate chemicals, such as shock chlorine and clarifier.

Bear in mind that whatever issues you may encounter with your pool when you are trying to reopen it for the spring and summer months, Pool Warehouse is a dependable source of well-priced and high-quality pool supplies in the UK.

With free delivery also available to the UK mainland when you spend more than £80 on a single order, you could save even more money when you order all of your essentials in one go from us.
