8 Factors to keep in mind while designing a High Performance Acoustic Enclosure
Posted: Feb 17, 2020
An enclosure is a modulator design to control the vibration and the noise elements of a machine so that the people can use it efficiently for various purposes.
Check the important factors below
Absorption Material:
The material used to absorb the sound waves must be efficient enough to soak up them properly when these waves passes through the absorption medium of an enclosure. A good absorption material can be of fibre, mineral wool, cellular type and ceramic, etc. They are moulded into the desired shape. There are many advantages of using melamine and polyimide which have been developed recently as they only require 40 percent weight of the overall machine designed.
Apart from this, they do not release any toxic elements or smoky elements which are released during the combustion process. The functioning of polyimide is similar to the melamine but polyimide is much costlier than melamine. So using the melamine as an absorption material will be a better option than any other material to enhance the performance.
Dimensions :
A complete and a partial acoustic enclosure can make a vast difference in the performance. Before designing, both the interior and the exterior dimensions should be determined and verified that they are as per norms of the high-performance enclosure or not. Any contact between the enclosure and the machinery must be avoided to obtain good and efficient performance.
Visibility Needs:
While designing an enclosure it is needed to check and determine the visibility needs. The purpose of this to read and display the gauge properly and to properly handle the discharge of waste materials and other pollutants. It also reduces the heat energy generated by sound waves and control their level of humidity too. Therefore, the factor visibility needs must be kept in mind before designing high-performance enclosure.
Openings of the enclosure:
An enclosure must be insulated in a proper way. This is done to avoid any kind of noise escaping from the enclosure. It should be air tight to obtain the high performance of this machinery.
No Access Restriction:
It can be a negative impact for the enclosure as this can severely minimize the performance of this machine. So it will be better that this includes doors, windows and chimneys for monitoring and maintaining machinery.
Lightning Requirement:
The requirement of lightning depends on the work purpose for which enclosure will be used. Lightning is essential for allowing the operators to run the machine. It is also needed to supervise the working of machinery from outside. Various devices can be used as a lightning element of an acoustic enclosure as LED bulbs, fluorescent lightning devices, etc.
Sound and vibration isolation:
To avoid the sound and vibrations of an enclosure from affecting their surrounding environment, a sound and vibration isolator must be equipped in it. This factor also plays a major role that enhances the performance of the enclosure.
Insulation Material:
The insulating material used in the enclosure must be efficient enough to provide good thermal performance of the machinery while using it.
