Best and Worst Places to Go for Proposal Ideas

Even for the most creative of grooms-to-be, proposal ideas may be hard to come up with. It sometimes seems as though every single idea worth pursuing has already been done better, either in a Hollywood film, by a celebrity, or simply by some Average Joe seeking his fifteen minutes of YouTube fame.

And yet, while somewhat accurate, this idea is nonetheless flawed. It is still possible to create a unique and memorable ring-presentation ceremony, even using previously tested proposal ideas. In this regard, a little imagination can go a long way, but if grooms (or brides, for that matter) are still coming up empty even after racking their brains, there are a number of places they can go to for inspiration, just as there are a number of places they should avoid. Below is a breakdown of each of these groups.

As far as recommended places to look for fun, original and romantic proposal ideas, one’s own brain would, of course, be right at the top of the list. One synonym for ‘original’ is ‘innovative’, and something created by one self will always, by definition, be more innovative than something taken from elsewhere and simply adapted.

If, however, your well of ideas is running helplessly dry, a good place to turn when looking for engaging, romantic ideas to present your ring is expert articles online. There is a wealth of pieces out there to assist people in this situation, from expertly researched pieces by professionals or simple lists of tips from people who have already gone through the experience. These are a particularly excellent source for the kind of offbeat ideas you would probably not think of ‘on the fly’ and can help you on your quest to achieve the perfect engagement ceremony.

To Be Avoided

On the other hand, brides and grooms hunting for creative proposal ideas should avoid Hollywood movies and television shows. This type of production not only recycles the same themes over and over but also sets the bar impossibly high for the average man or woman. Unless you can rent an entire stadium just for the proposal, you are highly unlikely to be able to replicate any garish ceremony the leading man in any particular movie puts together for the leading lady. Please note that this principle also applies to glossy magazines, the purpose of which is to make women wish for things they are highly unlikely to achieve. Go for something smaller and quirkier, and you may find it means much more to both you and your significant other.
