Staying and Playing in La Tania: Your Complete Guide
Posted: Jul 16, 2014
Planning a ski holiday and getting ready to book your chalet? La Tania is one of the most popular resorts in Europe and there are many reasons why so many people choose it every year for their ski holidays. Here is a guide to everything you need to know about this delightful location.
Overview
If you are hoping for a peaceful break in a picturesque ski chalet, La Tania is a perfect option. Rather than being a resort filled with nightclubs and large groups of young people making lots of noise, this is a more peaceful locale that is popular with families and couples. There are plenty of more lively places to stay in the Three Valleys, but if you're searching for some relaxation it is superb – but don't worry, you will still find some great restaurants and bars.
It was built fairly recently for the 1992 Olympics, and it is based in very beautiful surroundings. You will be able to enjoy stunning views and first-rate accommodation options.
Enjoy the Skiing
Of course, one of the first things that matter when booking a winter holiday is the quality of the skiing around your chalet. La Tania has a wide range of pistes for all abilities and the powder is excellent. Some of the runs are quite challenging, but at the same time there are plenty of runs for beginners as well.
Off-Piste
If you feel a bit more adventurous and want to enjoy some off-piste skiing you will have a number of options. Head to areas like Plumber's Crack and Dou Des Lanches to enjoy some excellent action.
Activities
Besides skiing, there are plenty of other activities that you can enjoy when you stay here. Some of the best of these include snowmobiling, snowshoeing, paragliding and dog sledding. The area around the resort is stunning, and these activities are great ways to see even more of it during your stay.
Getting There
La Tania is easy to reach. If you are coming by air, fly in to Chambery Airport and then jump on a transfer - it only takes about 90 minutes to get to the resort. You could also drive if you prefer. It is just less than 600 miles from Calais, so it is no short distance, but it’s a lovely drive and make for a wonderful adventure.
In short, if you're looking for a ski chalet, La Tania is pretty hard to beat. It has a wide choice of excellent accommodation, fabulous scenery and plenty of snow – what more could you ask for?
