Duplex 2205 with a nearly equivalent chemical composition of austenite and ferrite. This mixture makes it possible for the alloy to be stronger and harder than conventional austenitic steels. In their thickest parts, duplex stainless steels such as 2205 also retain excellent weldability and are much more resistant to corrosion cracking stress than conventional steels. Resistance to corrosion is a critical element of materials constructed to resist natural disasters.

Duplex stainless steel is less likely to cause harm due to the cracking of stress corrosion. It also provides excellent corrosion fatigue strength and allows duplex steel to stand up against attack by its small carbon magnitude. Duplex grades are highly tough on the surface and can withstand heavy water, sand, or salt crystals conditions.

High corrosion resistance and elevated resistance Uns S32205 can resist the effect of a coastal flood surge on brackish or saltwater. This quality, together with long service life and low maintenance requirements, resulted in the use of stainless steel duplex 2205 pipe in pedestrian bridges. The Helix in Marina Bay, Singapore, and the San Diego, CA Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge both use 2205 as a primary structural material that provides state-of-the-art, high-strength, viable structures.

Standard: ASTM A 240, ASME SA 240, UNS S32205/S31803, W.NR. 1.4462, GE-S400/S1000, EN 10028-7, PWA-LCS

Corrosion Resistance

Duplex 2205 shows superior corrosion-resistant characteristics at 316 and 316L in most settings due to its high content of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen. Even in oxidizing and acidic solutions, chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen also provide high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Cracking corrosion and temperatures up to about 302 ° F (150 ° C) resistant to chloride stress. The existence of ferrite in caustic settings ensures excellent efficiency of Duplex 2205.

Hot Forming

It is recommended to form below 600 ° F whenever possible. The workpiece should be heated uniformly and worked in the range from 1750 to 2250 ° F when warm forming is needed. At these temperatures, the alloy duplex 2205 stainless steel plate is quite smooth and easily shaped. 2205 is subject to hot tearing above this range. Immediately below this range, austenite becomes significantly stronger than ferrite and can cause cracking, a specific hazard to the edges of aEoecoldaE. Due to the combination of temperature and deformation, intermetallic phases can rapidly form below 1700 ° F.

Cold Forming

The stainless steel plate alloy 2205 duplex should be annealed at a minimum of 1900 ° F, followed by fast cooling, ideally by water quenching. This therapy refers to both annealing solution and relieving stress. At any reduced temperature, stress relief medications carry the risk of precipitation of harmful intermetallic stages.

Welding

The stainless steel plate duplex 2205 alloy has excellent weldability. The purpose of welding 2205 is to retain the corrosion resistance, strength, and toughness of the base metal in the weld metal and heat-affected zone (HAZ). While welding of 2205 is not hard, it is essential to design welding processes that lead to favorable post-welding phase equilibrium and prevent precipitation of harmful intermetallic or non-metallic phases.
