Inspecting the goods after production is often too late and doesn’t bring any improvement in the production process. Since it gets too late therefore you can’t make changes in the production process for attaining overall business sustainability.

Due to the above-given reasons, it becomes a necessity to perform an in-process inspection or dupro. Product inspections allow you to confirm product quality and supply chain processes. The commonly used name for this kind of production is DUPRO which simply means inspection during production.

Why Is It Essential?

Inspection during production is exclusively good for products that are in constant production, that have stringent requirements for on-time shipments and as a follow-up when quality issues are found prior to manufacturing during a pre-production inspection.

There are various other advantages of DUPRO. Some of them are:-

  • The already manufactured goods can be brought back readily for implementing changes, and can then be delivered without any delay.
  • The rest of the production process will run smoothly.
  • This is done after the accomplishment of 10-15% of total production, therefore no such loss is observed.
  • It prevents the deficient goods from reaching the customer and reducing complaints.
  • To endorse status for quality and reliability of the product

What Is Inspected In The Process?

The foremost objective of an inspection is to distinguish bad lots from good lots and to rate the quality of produced goods. It seems really simple to separate the bad lot from the good one. But technically it requires observing and studying various aspects of the production processby the inspector. Below given are the aspects that a quality inspector observes during DUPRO :

  • Conformity to Specializations

In an inspection, the quality inspector has to determine whether the production process is going as per the buyer or not. For this, he considers all the relevant aspects of the product which includes (quantity, components, assembly, aesthetics, function, size)

  • Visual Appearance

In this, the inspector selects and examines the appearance of some products and compares it with the sample.

  • Full-Function Test

With this, the inspector performs some tests on goods to examine its full-function testing.

What Is Included In The Dupro Process?

DUPRO isn’t a one-shot process and the process is done in numerous fragments.

The steps involved in the DUPRO process are given below:-

  • Arrival Of Inspector

The inspector arrives at the factory after the production has started and some products have been dispatched.

  • Casual Selection Of Samples

Semi-Finished and finished products are selected randomly for further testing.

  • Style, Colour and Shape Check

The inspector checks all the aspects of the selected goods like shape, color, etc.

  • Photos Of Production Line

Snaps of the production line are taken to ensure that production is moving in the right direction.

  • Simple Audit Of Production Line

A quality control system check of the production line is performed to audit machinery, material, method, environment, etc.

  • Inspection Report

On the basis of results obtained in the inspection process, the inspector makes an inspection report. After this, the inspector determines whether the goods have passed the inspection or not.

From the above section, we come to know the importance of inspection during production. Therefore, make sure to get the products checked before the completion of the production process.
