There’s More to Website Design than Good Looks

You have an idea for a great online business and instantly hire someone to do the website design. You spend hours, days, perhaps weeks and months planning the site and anticipating instant success. You want overnight profits. You want all the glory that comes with owning your own business and working online right from your own home.

However, once you get the website up, nothing happens. Just as much time as you spent putting up the site is now spent waiting for visitors to come, but very few do. What are you doing wrong?

If you have already experienced this scenario or are about to put up a new website and want to avoid this, consider one big rule of online business: good looking Web Design is not enough to bring success!

Finding the right visitors

You know how great your website is and believe that it is downright beautiful, but guess what? It doesn’t matter what you think. What matters is what other people think, so you have to get out there and find those people before you can be any kind of success.

The right visitors are simply those who have some amount of interest in what you are offering on your website. If you are a business serving the Essex area, then you will want visitors who live in Essex.

An important consideration when doing website design is incorporating search engine optimization (SEO) to find these visitors. SEO must start from the moment you set up your website as keywords will need to be worked into your URL, page titles, image captions, and in many other places. You will also need to start building links pointing back to your Levitra Professional site through offsite SEO.

Making Visitors Like You

You use SEO to get visitors to come to your site, but the website content and design must be intriguing enough to make them stick around awhile. You want them to like you; so you have to offer them something that gives value to your site in their eyes. This means giving them valuable information that they want to find or displaying entertaining and intriguing video that will grab attention.

The design also has to be very easy to navigate. Your visitors should be able to find what they are looking for quickly and easily and every site feature should be fully functional. Designing an overly complicated, difficult to navigate website will lose you those visitors you’ve worked hard to get.

Finally, all content on the site must be accurate, well written, and directly related to your business in some way.

From Visitors to Customers

If you can find the right visitors, lead them to your site, and then convince them that they like you and want to spend some time with you, then chances are high that you can convince many of them to trust you and place an order. Or perhaps, you just want them to give up an email address and agree to communicate with you in the future.

Whatever it is that you want your visitors to ultimately do, you have to get them there through a well thought out plan that includes:

  • On and off site SEO
  • Social media marketing
  • High quality content
  • Professional, functional web design

So you see, the design of your website is important but it is not the only thing you need to worry about. You have to love your site, but other people need to love it even more.
