How to save money with the Cricut on your wedding

I was reading the other day that Micro Wedding are in and big costly weddings are no longer the norm. This makes total sense to me and I wonder why it hasn’t happened earlier. It makes no sense to spend more than the average household income one a single day. Or worse, I hear some people go into debt throwing a big wedding. I can’t think of a worse way to start off happily ever after.

So in the spirit of frugal weddings, I will highlight some of my favorite ideas on cost savings for weddings. They all involve the Cricut however. It does cost money to purchase a Cricut, but in net, you still save a ton.

One of the top savings opportunities is to make your own Cricut wedding invitations. You can make professional grade wedding invitations at a fraction of the cost. Everything from the wedding sleeves to the actual invitation. One of the great things about the Cricut is the editing interface where you can customize your designs. Not only can you just print and cut a generic invitation, you can customize it with your names, dates and anything else that might need customization on an invitation. A lot of times, these customizations are not even available through professional services so not only do you save a ton of money, you are getting bespoke invitations found nowhere else.

There are also tons of creative ways to make custom decor. I see a lot of couples want to integrate their engagement photos on the big day. You can turn your photo into an SVG cut file within the Cricut app and make all sorts of decals and printables with the photo. Another great way to use your engagement photos is to make custom guestbooks. Not only does this cost a lot of money and time using a professional service, you can do this yourself with the Cricut at a fraction of the cost using the same amount of time.

I remember one of the things I hated doing was addressing the envelopes for the invitations. Well, as it turns out, the Cricut can write as well as cut. There are a wide selection of writing fonts for the Cricut within the app that you can use to customize handwritten invitation address labels. All of your friends and family will be super impressed with your new calligraphy stills and how perfect all the letting looks. I have to warn you though, the writing feature on the Cricut takes a long time. It is way slower than writing it yourself by hand but who says you have to stick around while it is writing. Just set it up and go do something else (or take a nap) while it runs!

All in all, whether you are using the Cricut to make things for your wedding or just decor around the house, it is a great investment that not only saves you money but can provide hours of fun.
